J. E. Boggs is acting solicitor at the Greenville court this week, while Solicitor Bon ham is in Columbia'.. -Mr. J. D. Harris, of Green yille, spent a portion of this week in Pickens, the guest of his brother, T. D. Harris. -Mr. J. G. McWhorter, of Liberty, is visiting his father-in law, J. J. Pickens, of the Hope well section of Oconee county. --Mrs. W. A. Gresham, of Atlanta, Ga.. spent a portion of last week with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. M. F. Hester. in Pick ens. -Mr. M. F. Hester made e flying visit to Walhalla this week. He reports evervthing progressing finely hevond the Keowee. -Mr. and Mrs: J. T. Partrid :e and Miss Mattie Fi ley, have re turned from a pleasant visit to relatives and friends in Atlanta and other points in Georgia. -Capt. I. M. Phiips and family moved last week to Pick ens whree they will make their home this year. Mr. Phillips will saw shuttle blocks for the Southern Shuttle and Bobbin Co. -The Guano Companies are taking time by the forelock and are advertising their goods and their dealers in the Sentinel Journal. They are all good brands, as you doubtless know, and, of course, you will buy those brands that suit you best. -Mr. C. W. Alford, a well known citizen, formerly a resi dent of Central, died at his home in Greenville on last Friday, after a few weeks illness, of paralysis, aged 63 years. He was a member of the Methodist church, and after appropriate services by is pastor his remains were caried to Central and inter ed in the cemetery there. He is survived by two children, Harry J. Alford, of the Southern Rail way and Mrs. Leila Goodwin. -Mr. W. 0. Singleton died at his home in Easley on the 14th instant, aged 72 years. He was born and raised near Dacus ville, in this county, and for a number of vears after the war he cried the public sales for the clerk and sheriff of this county. He later moved to Oconee coun ty, settling near West Union, where he resided until about two vears ago when he came back to E7sley. Mr. Singleton served through the war with gallantry and distincton. He was twice married, first to a Miss Rackley by whom he had four sons; his second wife was a Miss Cole, by whom he had two sons, all of them. living. His remains were interred -t Peter's Creek church by the side of his first wife. Mr. Singleton's many friends, and especially his old comrades in arms, will learn with sorrow of his demise. -Mr. Asbury E. Kelley. a most prominent and substantial citizen of the Hagood's Mill setion of the county, died at his homne ydsterday, the 25th inst., Mr.1 Kee y-as boin in 'sorth n.- He{ wa a momer of Pote' Chapel Methodist Churc andone.
