Easter Sunday was a day of unusual interest at Sacred
Heart. A joyful event added to the solemnity of the feast.
This event was the celebration of first Holy Mass by our
neo-presbyter Rev. Chas. Espelet 0. S. B. who had been
ordained in Oklahoma City by our Rt. Rev. Bishop some
days earlier. Rev. Fr. Charles was assisted by Rev. Fr.
Murphy as deacon and Bro. Richard as sub-deacon. Father
Murphy preached an eloquent and touching sermon, which
made a deep impression on all present.
The Advocate joins with the many friends of Fr. Charles
in wishing him many years of success in the exercise of his
A number of the Fathers and Brothers from Sacred Heart
assisted the diocesan clergy during Holy Week and Easter.
Rev. Fr. Hilary was at Perry, Rev. Fr. Germanus and Bro.
Robert were at El Reno, Rev. Fr. Gabriel was at Enid,
Rev. Fr. Odilo at Pond Creek, and Rev. Fr. Elias and Bro.
Benedict at Shawnee.
Rev. Fr. Vincent closed a successful course of Lenten
sermons at Norman on Easter Sunday.
Rev. Frs. Eloi and Justin have been engaged in mission
ary work in Louisiana, during the Lenten season. Father
Justin will remain to take temporary charge of the parish
of Lorcauville which was lately bereaved of its beloved
pastor, Rev. Fr. Mertens.
