lifeboat protection resulted today In
abandonment of tho big liner's trip
across tho Atlantic ror Now York
after fifty deck hands had Joined the
walkout, refusing to work with non
union stokers.
The ill-fated Titanlc's slater ship
finally succeeded today In filling her
hold with non-union stokers and pre
pared to start. Sha steamed as far
as tho Isle ot Wight, where, off
Hyde, tho fifty deck hands struck,
declaring they would not work with
the non-union men In the hold. Tho
strikers boarded a tug nnd left tho
