D.iTid Kennedy's Favorite Kt-nudy, of l!oiiiiiut, N. Y. We put in evidence the f ollow mi letter, aelccied from many similar communications: PitUfleld, Mass., Marota, 1884. Dr. David Kennedy. Dear Sir : You have a right to know, and I desire the public to know ray experience with Gravel and uiy remarkable recovery through the use of jour "Favorite Remedy." I am a carpenter living in this plane, and there are plenty of witnesses to the truth ot what I y. My first comparatively flight attack of Gravel was in the year 1878. It passed away, and I bad little more trouble until last July, 1883. One day when at work in my shop I was snddenly seized with a keen and terrible pain in my left side.- I consulted two physicians at once. One said ; "I can do nothing fcr yon. Your case is in curable I" I wan frightened and went to the second, who said little, bnt gave me a pre scription. It did no good. Then begin a series of experiences the agony and horror of whioh words cannot depict. Think of it ! I was sometimes taken in the street, and would fall, writhing with agony.npon the sidowalk. It wss death in life. Thank heaven, I then beard of "Ken nedv's Favorite Remedy," through Mr. P. V, Coolev. I had not used half a bottle when I parsed three stones in succession, one of which was nearly half an inch long. I per severed with the medicine, the symptoms gradually abated, and I have had no more trouble since. I am well, thanka to you and Favorite Retried v." Yours most gratefully, James D. Kennedy. The boys say they were not just prepared, also that tho custom ary rules governing matters of that kind, had not' been complied with. One thing wo would say is. that Ex Major Uonfoy is the right man in the right place, he being a veteran oflicer in our late rebellion and has learned tho boys a great deal for which, no doubt, lie will receive their many thanks. Mr. Culver of tho firm of Riley i; Culver has changed his residence and is now living in the Lutes Block. Miss Powers and 6ister, of Port Huron, are visiting Mrs. Culver. Geo. Windsor is spending his holi days in Ontario. The people arc well pleased with our new agent, Mr. Farr, and hope he may stay with us a good long terra. While Mr. Farr was absent a short time from the oflico the other day, report says a miserable sneak thief procured a ticket for Saginaw but on being interviewed pleaded guilty and handed back tho ticket. One night last week the depot at this place was broken into and asu't of clothes and some other small articles were stolen. No clue to the thieves, but certainly we should show no mercy to a thief in a land of plenty where none need want. Mrs. F. Snyder has returned from Clare, after a two weoks visit, look ing well. It. It is thought tho mill will start some time in August. Just when no one but the workmen will know un til after she starts and is tested. M. Magner has ommenccd on his new store. W. II. Harris is doing a good business in his carriage and wagon works at present. He is busy mak ing up work for tho fall trade. Wo think-thc infamous business of selling liquor without a license and the still more degrading act of retailing out by the glass on drug store license, which has been going on for sometime past and is still go ing on within the limits of our town ship, had better be sat down on by those whoso duty it is to do so. Wo think it unfair and unjust to punish one or two for violating the law in this respect, while others are allowed to go Scott free. The very fact in itself is evidence of vindictive spite satisfied, on one hand, and toleration and partiality on the other. If it is a misdemeanor and violation of our law, why punish some and oblige them to comply with the require ments of the law, whilo others arc allowed to basque in tho genial smile of your toleration (which means more, yea! approval.) If these sur mises ore not facts let our municipal authorities, both village and town ship, by straightforward action, vindicate themselves at once and be come true exponents of the govern ment .they represent, whose chief motto is that "all men are created equal," Melvin Murmurs. Farmers arc harvesting their wheat. Haying is about finished. Other crops arc in a promising con dition. Hugh McPhec and wife arc visit ing friends in Canada. She sports a genuine full-Hedged black leg dude. lie went to Brockway Centre not long since and whilo there wnnt into a saloon aud lied a dollar away from the bartender. The Melvin correspondent to the Sanilac Jeffersonian seems to have had a very bad dream the other night m which a couple of large black bears figured as principle characters. Tho fact is that if Hurley's dog don't stop fooling around and f right en jug young litdioH that are engaged in the peaceful avocation of berry pick ing into the belief that it is a bear or two, that dog will be prosecuted to tho full extent of the law. Isaac Jeruc is studying vetcrinar) surgery. He lias already had one case, that of a horse belonging to himself, upon whioh ho exercised great professional skill as related by one of his neighbors who was an eye witness. There is some talk hero of build ing a church. Wo need a church or some reformatory institution in which sonio of our young men can learn the rudiments at least, of good manners, that would enable them to appear in public more liko gentlemen than savages. Blanneriiassutt. By their Fruits ye shall know them. lie arc sorry that our esteemed friend Burwell is so dissatisfied with the Ufa and honor ho has brought upon himself. Ho complains that his neighbors havo been trying to ruin his good and spotless character; but it is a mistake on his part for his long and crooked tongue has done the ded. He has persisted in making statements against his neighbors, which the people know are false. Tho good Book says: "That ya shall know the tree by the fruit it bears, and may know a man by the man ner of his deeds and language, for out of the abundance of the heart tho mouth spcaketh." Ho refers to burning buildings,6tcaling, etc. Now wo propose to be able to prove any and all statements we have ever made concerning J. It. Burwell. What will tho public think of a man, who will pound and bruise his wife and almost choke her to death. Bruise and pound her in the face till it is as black as a man's boot from her fore head to her chin. We havo recently known this very good man, J. R. Burwell,to do those very things here in our midst. What kind of fruit will wo call this? His family tells us that while living in the swamp in Maple Valley, about two years ago, lie threw his young son William into the ditch two or three times in sue cession and the boy Mould have drowned had not his stepmother res cued him. By his fruit ye shall know him. If h wishes us to prove our statements we are ready at any moment. ' It is natural for somepeo pie to dig a pit and fall into it, then complain and blame some other per son for the mishap. E. TiiiKouuAU and others. Melvin, July 28th, 1885. TO CELEBRATE. The Fourth Anniversary tf the Great ('amp for Michigan A Movement on Foot for a Bi; Time in ths City of Fort Huron. On the 1 1th day of June, 18Sl,the Great Camp for Michigan was incor poratcd under the special act of the State legislature, but it was not or ganized as a State Endowment Juris' diction until September 8th, follow' ing. Sir Knight Alex. R. Avery was then great Commander and acting under an amendment to tho Consti tution of the Supreme Tent, he call ed a special review of tho Great Camp at Port Huron, and a State Endowment District was formed. Sir. Knight N. S. Boynton, the pres ent Great Record Keeper, presented a draft for the Constitution and Laws which was unanimously adopt ed, and with the exception of a few amendments made in 1883, is the same, under which the Order in this 6tatc is now acting. It was at that date that the organi zation of the Great Camp for Michi gan was practically completed, al though it was organized .lunc 11th. Tho 8th of September will com plete tho fourth year of tho existence of the Great Camp and a celebration of that event has been proposed. Tho Sir Knights of Port Huron aro moving in the matter.
