Tho coll ho Is confined In Is No. 1, In tho

This morning a letter was rccolvcd for

writer bado him farowoll and commends him
to turn to his Maker for tho only holp that
can romo ; that thcro is no hopo romalulug

to mcot his impending futo manfully. "I
commend you to tho Fathor of all," tho

, All of tho prisoners havo been romovod
from tbo corridor in which tho condemned
man is confined, so that ho is entirely
isolated from intrusion, or uvea tho sight
of any but tbo olllcials nud tbo priest. Too
scaffold, as already published, is in posi

tiough. runs tho ropo which will roloaso

bo pulled by ono of tbo olllcials, who will
bo notified to-morrow evening by Gcnor.il
Crocker. Tho prevailing idea that sorao
prisoner is selected for this duty is crrono
on?, for tbo law specially forbids It, and
alto forbids that any prlsonor shall wltnoss
tbo execution.
General Crocker docs not antlclnato any
Eceno on tho scaffold, oscopt that Langitor
may weaken to that ho must bo bold, it bo
ing his opinion that ho is naturally so much
of a coward that ho will break down. Ho
bns no fears of an attompt at suicldo, and
does not think that a pistol or knifo In
Ltingstcr's band would lead to any attompt
on bis own life, though li is vicious naturo
might lead him to attack others.
