The following Ordinance being in
troduced was unanimously adopted:
Be it ordained by the Mayor and
Board of Aldermen of the City of
Alexandria, La., in regular session
convened, on this the 7th day of
April, A. D. 1884--That from and
after the promulgation of this Ordi
nance all owners of cattle or horse
stock are forbidden to allow the
same to roam at large within the
Corporation limits during the night
time after the hour of 8 o'clock P.
M., and any such animal being
found found at large contrary to
the provisions of this : Ordi
nance shall be impounded by the
Constables, and the owner of such
animal shall pay a charge of $1, to
gether with all cost before the said
animal shall be released.
Be it further ordained, etc., That
any person or persons who shall
drive any stock herein mentioned
into the Corporation limits with a
view of having the same impound
ed shall be 'fined not'exceeding $25
and cost or imprisc ned in default of
payment riot exceeding 48 hours.

Meeting of Citizens and the Police
Jury.

The meeting was called to order yes
terday morning (April 9) by F. Seip,
.President of the Police Ju . A large
and influential body of citizeh were us
attendance. On motion F. 8ip was
elected permanent Chairman and J. C.
Ryan, Secretary.
A motion was made and carried invi
ting the Press of the Pariah to take
part in the meeting.
The Chairman of the meeting stated
that the first business to be transacted
would be to elect a permanent Chair
man for the' Parish Association to be
known as the "4tapides Parish Vorld's
Exposition Society." Capt. J. G. White
moved that Major F. Seip be chosen
Chairman, which was seconded. Ma1.
Seip thanked the meeting for the hon
or, and sasd that nothing would afford
-him more pleasure, but owing to his
private affairs he would be unable to
accept the position. Mr. Seip then
suggested the name of G. W. Bolton,
which was seconded. Mr. Bolton also
declined the honor, but Capt. White
asked that a vote be taken oo Mr. Seip's
suggestion. Mr. Bolton was unani
mously elected Chairman of the "Rap
ides Parish World's Exposition Aseoci
ation." Mr. John A. Williams made a
motion that an Advisory Committee of
ten members be appointed, including
the Chairman.
The Chair appointed Mees4 James

On motion, and carried, that three,
with the Chairman of the above comr

Mr. Wmii. Polk, Jr., moved that each.
Ward in the Parish have a Ward meet
ing on the 26th inst. and that, a din
ndttee of five be appointed at. such
meetings to represent the Wards. It
was moved by D)r. A. Cockcrille as at
amendment to Mr. Polk's motion, that
each Police Jury member from theodif
ferent Wards shall he Chairmak of the
Ward committees, and shall appoint a
committee of five, including hhimself, to
represent the Wards. The original (no
tion was lost and amendment" carried.
Mr. E. G. Hunter made a motion
that the meeting request the Police Ja-.
ry to make an appropriation for the
purpose of assisting the Parochial Asso
ciation in getting together and forwar
ding a general exnibit of the .rebonre .

On motion of Mr. Mires Rosenthal it
is the sense of this meeting that the
several Ward Committees shall be ersn
powered to receive all contributions
handed in by citizens, to enable the
Association in its efforts to make a~ .
good exhibit.
It was moved by Rev. H. C. Danean
that Capt. Long be made Chairman of
the Cheneyville Ward, which ias
carried. .
Mr. G. W. Bolton, Chairman of the
Association, gave notice that there
would be a meeting of the Advisory
Committee on next b riday at "4 o'clock ;

ried, the ladies of the Parish are ear
