Levi Stewart, now at work on the Winfield Sentinel, has sent as word that he will shortly visit Alexandria, and spend a couple of weeks with "the b'hoys." Rexer raised the frame of the large gin house which he is now constructing near the mouth of Ba you Rapides for Mr. J. N. Brady on Tuesday vacated the "Methodist Parsonage" and Imoved to the dwel ling house corner of Second and Fish streets. TIhe Parsonage is now occupied by the Rev. J. M. 'uting Glatt, acompa nied by her mother, Madame Pierre Brosset, left on Tuesday morning last to spend some days at the home of the last named lady, at Buxton's Landing, on Red River, after which she will join her husband, Mr. Ju lius Glatt, who left yesterday eve ning for Baton Rouge, where he goes to permanently reside, having secured a lucrative situation in that city. Our best wishes attend you, Julius. -MEsRs. V. Girard and Bern hard Ehrstein have recently had their entire property on Jackson and Second streets embellished by the touch of the painter's brush, and those buildings now present quite an unique and handsome ap pearance. It is an almost univer sal exclamation, "what a fine and well executed piece of painting!" No one will, however, be surprised when they learn that the work was done by Mr. Frank Graham, who has honestly won and just merits the appellation of the "Boss" Pain ter. Mr. Graham's shop is situated on DeSoto street,. where he will at all times be pihased to see those who may Lere any worlk to be done n his liias. -Thr young men who desire to form a "nine" to play a game of Base Ball with the Nolans, should not forget that a meeting has been called by Capt. Ware for Sunday nest. We hope all the lovers of this sport will attend, and that some definite conclusion may be arrived at. We should let "the boys" of Donaldsonville know at once wheth er we will or will not give them 'i game. Some attention should also be given to the challenge jof the "O. K." Club, of Shreveport, who are confident that although a club of boys only 14 and 16 years of age, they are the crack club of the State outside of New Orleans. The hall was not so crowded ap these lady teachers deserved it should have been, but nevertheless there was a good attendance, and the audience, by their quiet attention evidenced their appreciation of. the efforts of the children to please. The per formanc was good in every, partic ular, and we exceedingly regret that time and want of space forbids our giving a minute description of each part.
