Mercer at Levin station, on the Iron Mloun tain Railroad, some weeks ag. was given a preliminary examimi tion before Judge E. (. Hunter last Saturday and admitted to bail in the sum of $750. Corley is also under indlictment for killing a I baby and shooting a man by the name of Pat Williams, and had been out on a bond of $2000, but since he became involved in the last difliculty his bondsman has surrendered him, which will nec essitate his furnishing a new bond and 4750 additional betone he can be released from jail, which he will not likely be able to do, and will be compelled to remain in jail, until the November term of the District Court. Stella Brent, a colored woman, charged with killing her brother, SDa7e Brent, at Boyce about two months agg, and Jim Wells, charg t with being accessory, were also given a lU'eliminary examination . and remanded to jail without the benefit of bail.
