Great 3Iinera of tho Great Council of the Improved Order of Bed Men and Great Senior Sajramore of tho Groat Conncil of Georgia. Judge- Robert T. Daniel was a charter mem ber of Chicasaw triba, No. 14, Improved O. R. IL, sajs Tho Council Brand, which tribe was organized in April, 1SS7, and was mado first sachem of his 'tribe; he was re-elected sachem for the second term. He was elected representative to tho grit council of Georgia for the session of 188S. Judo Daniel at onco took an active interest in the business of tho session and was elected gwat representative to the great council of tho United States. At the session of the great council of tho United States, held at Chicago in Corn moon, 897, ho was appointed Great Jlinewa, which position he still holds. Tho subject of this sketch was born in Grif fin, Ga., Oct. 21, IS5S; was educated at Em ory cotioge, vji ford, Ga. Immedi ately after leaving college ho began to read -law, and was admitted to tho bar a few months after he was 20 years old At 22 ho was elect ed judge of tho city court, to which po sition ho was re elected for throe terms. He retired from tho bench to form a copartner ship with Judge John D. Stewart, tho present member of Congress from the Fifth district of Georgia. In Brunswick, in 3Iay, at tho great council of Georgia, Judge Daniel was re-elected great representative for two great suns and was also elected great senior sagamore of the great council of Georgia, Judge Daniel is also a prominent Odd Fel low. He is past grand patriarch of the state and is sitting grand senior wardon of the grand lodge of the state. As chairman of tho committee of aopeals and grievances for four j oars he has pronounced a number of remarkably fine decisions and successtuny worked out many complicated questions. Judge Daniel is one of the most prominent young men in Georgia, is known ail over the state and is domsmuch to build iir the order in the south. I. O. O.v F. It has paid out 2,215.93 ou nccount of sickness and funeral expenses, it has contrib uted 764.20 to tho support of tho grand and supremo lodges, and now has $1,410.71 to its credit. Bro. 0. II. Shane, of Seymour lodge, No. 118, St. Louis, Mo., is a Knight of Honor who shows his faith by hss v orks. Ho was initi ated into tho lodge July 19, 1S75. In October, 1875, ho was elected financial reporter of thd lodge, aud has served as financial reporter ever since. During all thee years ho has missed but threo lodgo meetings. On ono of thes-e he was out of the city, and on tho other two was confined to his room by sickness. Its building is magnificent It is built of white marble, only one story high, and stands in the center of a block. Its roof covers four acres of land. It contains rooms enough to allow every degree of Masonry to bo conferred at the same time, each in a separate room. The grounds surrounding the teinple aro beautifully laid out, and ar6 shielded from tho public gaze by a stone wall ten feet high. The lodge contains S00 active members and quite as many en conge. Masonry is prohibited in the Philippine Isl ands, but many lodge meetings are held in secret. The three finest Masonic temples in the world are at Philadelphia, Pa, ; Capo Town, South Africa, and Port Louis, Mauritius. That at Capo Town is the property of Krap lodgo. It is located in tho center of a great grove of oak trees, and its various chambers aro fitted out for work in aselaborate a man ner as possible. A correspondent, writing from Malta to Tho Tyler, says that tho new Masonic hall erected in Sharia Masrel Atecka by the En glish members of the craft is already the most fashionable quarter of Cairo. It l nicely decorated and well built and is proba bly the finest Masonic hall occupied by En glish spsakmg Freemasons outside of England and tho United States. Attached to this hall is a Masonic club, which draws a number of brethren together nightly. The Mystic Shrino Nobles of Cairo are tho most exacting observers of tho great Ramadan feast iu Egypt. Tho order has tweaty-eight lodges in the city, embracing a membership of 5,502, as against 5,434 in 163S, or a net gain of 03. All of tho lodges, excepting three, havo over a hundred members. Eleven havo over twe hundred members, two over threo hundred nnd ono over four hundred members. The average ago of tho members is forty and three-quarter years. Tho assets of all tho lodges amount to $535,5S0.2S, an average of 97.34 per mem ber. Tho annual receipts aggregate $110, 001.5S, an average of $19.99 per member. Tho total annual expenses last year were S105.93S.S4, au average of $19.25 per mem ber. Tho decrease m tho amount paid for re lief was 5470 87, as compared with tho year beforo; decrease in current expenses, 3, 371.42; decrease in receipts, 2,421.70; de crease in assets, $4,031.85. It will be of interest to noto the various items in last vear'a expenditures. Tho cur rent expenses v. ere 30,412.09. Tho money paid for tho relief of members last year amounted to $55,807.09; for the relief of widows and families, 5,805; for the burial of brothers, 5,02.1.75; for tho burial of sisters, 1.227.50; for charity, 3,S19.30. During the year 001 members and 75 idows and families were given relief, aud 81 brothers and 29 sisters i ere buried. In addition, thcie were 0,001 weeks of sickness, for w hich benefits were paid.
