Receipts of live stock at the Union Stock
yards for 24 hours, 695 cattle; 1566
hogs. The cattle markets -was more ac

very slow sale and prices lower than for

among the offerings and they found
ready sale at good values. The receipts
of hogs were larger than expected, but
the packers were active buyers at mar
ket prices which was $3 47 1-2 for
bulk of today's offerings. The close
was about steady.

Chicago, 111., June 3. Trading in wheat
was fairly active chiefly on local account.
The feeling wa somewhat unsettled but
the m.srket uas excitable and did not
respond to readily to bull influences as a
fewdajango. Evidently some operators
who had been on the long side of the mar
ket are trading on the short side now,
which tends, to keep down the market and
prevent prices from advancing so sharply.
The market opened about feVc lower
aud priee further declined. Jc, then ad
vanced r5lH'e. fluctuated some and
closed about .c higher for July, .c lower
for August, unchanged for September anl
c lower for Decomler than closing prices
yesterday.
Corn was active and stronger, higher
prices being the rule on all futures. The
advance was due to local influences, though
bad crop reports had some effect. The
market closed i(s.Hc b-tter than vester
day. Oat were active, stronger and prices X
c higher. The advance was duo to
moderate receipts, rather unfavorable-re-.
