Tasernier. The second article on the Treaty

as was the one referred to in an editorial last
week. A full mid saluable article on the

author, and has the taking title ol A Castle in
Spain.
In the Popular Science Monthly, Dr. Kelix
L. Oswold treats of The Remedies of Nature.
It Is the first of a series of articles on the hy
genie treatment of the prevalent disorders of
the human organization, including consump
tion, dispepsia, the alcohol-habit, rheumatism
and climatic fevers. "We are right-handed
because vveare left-headed" is the remark
able answer to Dr. W. C. Cahlll's brief article
Why are we Right-handed? The answer is
based upon the fact that "The cercbum is
divided into two hemispheres. The nerve-
force and nerve fibers which produce muscular
action on the one side of the body have their
origin in the opposite hemisphere of the brain.
The left hemisphere, from the earliest period,
Is larger and heavier than its counterpart, and
the convolutions of gray matter the reservoirs
or nervous energy are more numerous on this
side than on the tight. This superior develop,
inent of the left hemisphere as to weight, sire
and richness of convolutions, may be attributed
to a peculiar arrangement of the blood vessels,
by means of vhlch n greater blood supply is
ilisttibutcJ to the brain substance of this tide."
As the left tide of the brain controls the right
side or the bod), the right hand is more often
put towork than the left, and titt xtrsa. All
of which may possibly account for the sinister
fact that a desirous misofticial it sometimes
able lo steal moie with hit right than he can
carry away with his left.
