Tho men eihployea oa tho concrete
and cement work were Mr. Abbey
and Peter Jap both of whom aro
known skillful masons.
Tho strength of the cement used
can only do ooianieu irom careiui
tests of the. cone rot and cement
lining now in. tho reservoir.
In my opinion the necessary re
pairs can be readily made, and at a
small cost. The 1otal cost of the
Wailuku and Kahului water works,
including water rights and rights of
way. main and distributing pipes,
reservoir .site and resorvoir, is ap
proximately $.15,000. These work&
arc one of tho bust investments of
the Government, yielding an annual
income of botweeu three thousand
and four thousand dollars, besido
furnishing au abundant supply of
pure mountain water for all purposes.
The few hundred dollars necessary
to permanently repair tho reservoir
is a small item, and could be easily
arranged. I will say in closing that
the appearance of tho reservoir in
its present condition would naturally
givo a wrong impression, and tend
to greatly magnify tho actual damage
aud especially as to the cost of re
pairs, in tho absence of methods used
in constructing he reservoir.
