Is what it cost the Kahuluis to
come on the diamond with a lame
pitcher. The Wailukus and Maka
waos had proved such easy meat fo
the Kahuluis that they went in wgak
handed to win from the Stars. But
as a matter of fact it takes nine
strong, healthy men to beat the
black twinklers. Had Jackson been
in good fettle, the game iwould have
been too close to be comfortable.
The Kahuluis scored three runs and
goose-egged the Stars in the begin
ning of the game, but Pitcher Jack
son, who has notyet recovered from
his recent accident, broke down in
hfs pitching.and the Stars rallied and
simply ran away with the game
Cummings of third went to tho box.
but unfortunately wrenched hisaukle
in a rush to first, which put him ou
of the game, Hudson doing his stunt
for the last few inuings.
The Stars played their usual steady
game, spoiled oiuy by ono horribly
wild throw from nrst baseman Smith
who is trene rally a cool und safe play
er, thus giving the Kahuluis two runs
This sobered dowu the Stars, who had
been feeling coltish, and they settled
down to u smooth beautiful gat
which they kept to the end.
The star. event of the game was.
triple play. Kaaiai popped a fly
which was. nabbed by .fitcuer is. rue
eer. : Just then a voice from the
grand stand yelled, "Look out for
second!-' Ned, who is not gcuerully
asleep, caugLt ou, whirled
round and sent the sphere to second
where it was handled by second base
man J. Garcia to the undoing of
Lloyd who was pawiug dirt for second
Then Garcia sent the Dun to home
plate where Catcher Tom Kruege
happened to be just then. Tommy
pawed tho ball and gently rubbed it
under the nose or Morris who w as
sDtiiitinir for the homcplate, and the
triple play was douo.
