During the past week Messrs
Hoffman & Weii'ht, who for years'
have conducted a Kenernl storp op
posite the Post Ofilce, tnado an as
signment of their business, stock, ac
counts, good will, etc. to Mr. E. O
Born, latp of San Francisco, fr the
bunetit of their various creditors.
Mr. Dorn has taken charge of the
store and has promised tho creditors
to conduct the same in a first class
manner, carrying nothing but gro
ceries and small hardware. During
the coming wek a sale ot tho pre
sent stock of goods will bo held to
make room for new stock and tho
cleaning up of tho business. The
goods on hand, at present, will bo
sold regardless of cost and every
thing will be at a bargain. When Mr.
Born first took charge, it was ru
mored that tho storn was to bo a
branch of tho Kahulul Storo, but on
investigation, wc find that thore is
no foundation, whatever, to this ru
mor. Tho Kahulul Store, like all tho
balance of tho creditors, has assign
od their account to Mr. Born and has
no interest in the storo. Their
manager has stated, to us that he
has plenty of branch stores at the
present time and has no desiro to
open one either in Wailuku or else
Wo welcome Mr. Born to Wailuku
and believe that the other stores
will bo greatly pleased to know that
this storo will be conducted in accor
dance with the high standard, which
they have already set. The present
manager will have the.building entire
ly renovated and painted and fitted
up In a first class manner.

ing enlarged, as the apartments now
in use do not afford sufficient space
