accident last week. While on his
track automobile he met a freight

He jumped in time to save himself
from serious enjury but in doing so
received injuries that were painful
but not serious.
Two letters received from County
Attorney D. H. Case by W. F.
Crockett are to the effect that he
may not be able to get back in time
lor the March term of the circuit
court. He has made arrangements
however with the Attorney General
to prosecute all sases that may come
up.l

On Wednesday evening of this
week Mrs. C. D. Lufkin entertained
a number of her friends at her home
on Main Street in honor of Miss
Dowsett.
Progressive pedro, the popular
game of the islands was played ly
twenty tour eager players.
The constellations of golden stars
of even the best players were some
what dimmed by stars of more som
ber hue.
, When the eleventh progression
was played the cards were collected
and it was found that Mrs. Ella L
Austin, of Waihee and II. M. Coke
editor of the Maui News were in the
lead and had tied. Mrs. Austin receiv
ed as a. prize a pretty lace haudker
chief while H. M. Coke received
deck of Congress gold edged playing
cards. The boody prize was won by
li s. J. H. Raymond and was most
ftfororriate it being a bottle of
scathing Eyrup.
IHliuhtful refreshments were served
day on a -Umr around West Maui.
Se intended to preach at Kahakuloa
and the several settlements between
Knhakulon and Lahaina. At Lahaina
ho will also preach.
T. A. Burmingham representing
E. O. Hall . and Sons is on Maui
soliciting, orders for his firm.' This
firm has established ever fifty years
and has grown up with the country.
Rev. J. Yamagucbl was a pas
senger from Kahului to Honolulu,
Tuesdays.
T. B. Lyons and son took passage
to Honolu per Tuesdays Claudine.
Wm. Grimes, and J. McFadden
returned to Honolulu Tuesday.
W. G. Cooke, and wife with their
two children and maids left for San
Francisco by the Claudine of Tues
day.
Miss Miller was a returning pas
senger to Honolulu Tuesday.
Miss Discomia returned to Honolulu
after having filled a professional
engagement in Wailuku. ;
Mrs E. H. Hart was a passenger
to Honolulu Tuesday.
Mrs. L. C. White who has been
visiting her sister Mrs, G. L. Keeney
returned to Kahului Tuesday for
San Francisco.
M. L. Decker is still seriously ill at
the Malulani Hospital.
H. C. Overden book-keeper of
Hana was in town Tuesday on his
way to-Hotolulu.
George Watt, Manager Hana Store
went to Honolulu Tuesday to attend
the U. S. District Court as jurying
C. A. Vickery of Paia returned to
Maui from Honolulu Tuesday.
A. Alberg of Lahaina was in town
Tuesday. He was accompanied by his
nephew O. Alberg of Chicago.
Oscar Brown , representing the
Examiner is on Maui taking sub
scriptions for the Examiner.
C. M. Loves ted is on Maui on bus

J. H. Fobs of Paia has just return
ed from California.
H. S. Hagerup an old friend of
the editor of the News was in Wai
luku Thursday.
Miss Dowsett leaves for the coast
Friday, via Honolulu where she will
spend a couple of weeks before con
tinuing her trip.
Mr. and Mrs. L.' Von Tempsky
visited in Wailuku on Monday.

guest of Mr. and Mrs. C D. Lufkin
Mr. Geo. Robertson, auditor for
C. Buruer & Co. is recovering from
the second attack of inflammatory
rheumatism within the - past month.
Drs. Weddick & Dinegar have an
Olds Mobile runabout.
. W. G. Scott and Wife have gone to
Honolulu on a two weeks vacation.
W.G. Cooke Returns to California.
Mr. W. G.' Cooke of: the- film of
Alexander & Baldwin of San Fran-
cisso returned to San Francisco this
week' Mr. Cooke came to Maui
about three months ago for the be
nefit of his health. He was accom
panied by bis wife and children, all
of whom seem benefitted by the change
of climate. Mr. Cooke has. 'spent
much of his time riding over the
irrigation ditches and last week rode
one hundred miles in two days'.
While here he has spent much time
in planting out useful and ornamen
tal trees.
He is greatly pleased with the
climate of Maui and his improved
health bears testimony to its excel
lence.

on the 7th, day of February A. D.
1906, duly appointed the Adminlstra
tor of the Estate of Rev. Z. S. K.
Paaluhi deceased, and that Letters
of Administration were on said date
issued to the undersigned .
All creditors of said Rev. Z, S. K.
Paaluhi deceased, and of said Estate,
are hereby notified to present' their
claims duly authenticated with the
proper vouchers if any exist, even If
the claim is secured by Mor tgage on
real estate, to the, undersigned at
the office of the clerk of the 2nd
Circuit Court in Wailuku, Maui, T.
H., within Six (6) Months from the
date of this notice said date being the
date of the first publication of said

Miss Dowsett
Entertained
While Miss Geneiveve Dowsett has
been the recipient of many attentions,
prior to her departure for the main
land the dinner given her by some of
the gentlmen from Kahului, was one
of tbe most enjoyable. . On Monday
evening a dinner was given to Miss
Dowsett at the residence of Mr. Fred
Hons by Messrs'. Welleri . Lloyd,
Hons and Cook. ' The. table tastefully
decorated and the .'menu was all
that could be desired.
Mr. Weller made the guests wel
come with a few appropriate remarks
which certainly .was the hit of the
evening, when wishing. Miss Dowsett
"bon voyage", to which she sponded
very clevely. "Those present were
Mrs. Hons, Miss Hons, Miss. Dow-
sett, Misa Makee, -Miss Molhe Cum
mings, Miss ' Nancy Cummlngs,
Mr H. B. Weller, Mr, T. A. Lloyd,
Mr. F. Hons and Mr.L. H. Cook.
