The streets of Wailuku have been
cleaned and the prass cut from the
side of the simc.
There seems tp-bea delay in befjin
lug the work of the Wailuku Court
House. The disposition here on the
part of a few to make all possible out
of th( contractor .may result in hold
ing up the work in which case bids
may be readvirtised.
Attorney J. M. Vivas and A. Enos
celebrated their birthdays Monday
by giving a luau to a number of their

one of the best ever served in Wailu
ku and vai thoroughly enjoyed by all

Winter League Opens Sojitson.
The winter league lusrba'l season
opened Sunday -t Well-; I'arV w'.ui a good
attendance.
The fust game of the M-.iir.n wms be
tween the Healanis and Yai'i.apu's aud
was a good game and inteicstiu;; from the
first. The game resii ilea in favi.r of the
Waikapu team in a score ui four to three.
The second game was played between
the Stars and the Kahului's. Kvery one
thought the game would be a close one
but contrary to expectations there were a
great many errors on the part of the home
team and few on the part of the visitors
and as a consequence the Kahului's won
out in a score of eleven to six.
It was late in the game that Dun l'oki
pala was asked to yo into the field in or
dery to relieve young Oliveira whose wild
playing had contributed much toward
the defeat of the home team. Bento also
relieved Johny Garcia who seemed to be
unable to do his usual good pitching and
from the time the changes were made the
home team gained steadily but were too
far in the rear to win the game.
It is very much to be regretted that a
few hoodleums made themselves extre
mely obnoxious during the last game and
used language too vulgar and profane to
be printable. Most of these fellows were
not playing on either side at the time aud
it would seeni that they had no interest
in either team hut they continued their
rowdyism during the game and directed
all of their villiany toward the visiting
team.
The Kahului hoys and most of the
Stas conducted themselves in a manner
that cannot be adversely criticised. They
played ball of all they were worth and
conducted themselves as gentlemen and
clean sportsmen. Better supervison over
the players must be had however if the
league is to continue in existence for if
there is a repetition of what occurred
there last Sunday the attendance will go
down to the minimum.
James Hattie, the Captain of the Kahu
lui team has addressed a letter to the
captaius of the other teams protesting
against the conduct of certain players on
the grounds last Sunday aud notifying
the teams of the withdrawal of his team
unless he can be assured of better conduct
and treatment in future.
Dr. Boote has resigned as umpire for
the season as a result of the conduct at
the grounds.
A tiiitluT matter that is of interest to
the success of the league and equally im
uortant to the Wailuku Sugar Company
is the fact that between one hundred and
fifty and two hundred persons came
through the cane fields and remained
either in the cane or in the edge of it
iltil watt-hinir the name in order to beat
the Association out of the entrance fee
It is reported that some of the young
cane was damaged by tiiese Rulers.
