Cyrus Green was before the Dis
trict Court Thursday on a charge of
an assault with a weapon obviously
and imminently dangerous to life for
striking Lloyd Smith, with a hammer.
The case for the prosecution was, a
vvery weak one and showed that Smith
was the aggressor. Green defended
his own case and was found not guilty.
The board of Supervisors meets
next week.
The next meeting of the Woman's
Guild of the Church of the Good
Shepherd will be held on Saturday

J. II. Nelson has been quite ill at
his home but is recovering and able

some time in the interest of his firtr.
His firm are wholesale and retail

Willie Bui returned from Honolulu
Tuesday from the ball games of Ho
nolulu.
George B. Henderson and Mrs.
Henderson left for Honolulu Tuesday
where they will make their future
home. Mr. Henderson has secured
employment with the Pacific O.l and
Distributing Company.
N. Omsted of liana passed through
Kahului Wednesday on his way to
Honolulu.
George Rhoades was a passenger
froia Honolulu Tuesday.
Senator W. H. Rice of Lihiie Kau
ai came up to Maui a few days ago
to attend the marriage of his son

James Love of the Kahului store
has returned home from the Malula

W. J. Moody and Mrs. Moody re
turned from a short trip to Honolulu

C. S. Jackson has resigned as
engineer on the Tug Hilo and has
gone to Honolulu where he w.ll make
his future home. He has been sue
ceeded by John Vaseoucellos.
Joe Taylor of the Puuner.e mill took
the Claudine for Honolulu V.'eduesday
and e pec ted to take the Siberia for
the coast. He expects to return on
the same boat on her return trip and
will resume his duties with the II. C.
& S. Co.
Ralph S. Johnstone of the Internal
Reveuue Service caiufc up Tuesday
and will probably remain a week on
Maui.

been on Maui during the week study

Mrs, Goodhue has been a visitor to

Miss Mae Hayward, one of the
popular teachers in the Santa Clara
grammar school, and daughter of
diner intendent of Schools W. J. Hay
ward, mis accepted a position in the
Maunaolu Seminary, n private school
in the town of Pain, on the island of
Maui, near Honolulu. She will sail
for that place on the 16th hist. San
Jose Mercury. ,
The Knights of Pythias New Year
ball should be attended by all who
enjoy drnciug.
Higaki Riotaro accused of the
m-rder of Hotaro Harada of -liana
was brought to Wailuku Wednesday
and lodged in jail. It is reported that
many of the Hana Japanese regret
very much that he was found before
he had succeeded in chocking himself
to death.
J. H. Jones is in town with a full
line of Samples of Shoes from
Mclnernys. He will keep open late
Saturday n'ght to accommodate
those who are engaged during the
day.
A wireless has been received from
Honolulu to the effect that Attorney
.1. M. Vivas ha been discharged
from custody by the Supreme Court
in his appeal from the sentence for
contempt of Court.
