entombed 104 men.
ELY NEVADA, January 20. The three men who were entomb
ed in a mine here by a cavein on December oi'd. have been taken out
uninjured They were five hundred feet below the surface and were
kept alive by food and air furnished through a six inch pipe that
was uninjured by the cavein. When they were entombed they uncoup
led the pipe at the bottom of the shaft and were in daily communica
tion with those above who lowered them the best foods obtainable.

F'rancis Le Cairn will be sailing master of the hospital relief ship,

pital relief ship should be under command of a naval officer or ether
wise was the cause of a disagreement between Roosevelt andDrownson
and the resignation front the naval board of the latter.
