The customer of a Wailuku Japanese
milk man tnougni someuung was wrong
with the milk furnished him, but was
unable to find out what it was until he
cooked some of it, then he found it con
tained some starch. .
Sonada, the Japanese whowas arrested
at Waikapu for selling liquor without a
license, put in a plea that the bail set by
Judge Buchard $300 was excessive and
cot it reduced to Jloo and on Wednes
day last rather than take chances with

Judge Buchard went out of office Wed-

The Honolulu players coming this year
are stronger than ever. Atherton Rich

school bov. but he can play tennis, and

The Maui Dry Goods & Grocery Co.
Ltd. have declared a 1 stock divideud of
40 payable to stockholders of record
September 1st, 1910. This is the second
stock dividend given to its stockholders,
one of 50 having been paid in 1907, be
sides the usual cashTlividends. The new
capitalization is f 25,000 and the Com
pany now operates five branches and de
partments. Th officers of the Company
state that the good showing has been
made possible through volume of business
and economical management, and not
on the margin of profit in goods. Of
ficers and directors are D. H. Case, pre-
sident, W. E. Bal, Vice-president, J
Garcia, Secretary & Treasurer, additional
directors: T. Burlem, J. S. Medeiros,
M. J. Moura, A. Gareia.
The Aloha Bible Class of Wailuku that
is composed of young men of the Kaahu
manu and Wailuku Union Churches, and
that meets on Sunday mornings at the
Wailuku Union Church, held a very en
ioyable picnic in Iao Valley last Satur
day afternoon. The boys walked up the
three miles, took their
musical iustru-
ments and song book along, and began the

made the crowd laugh. The afternoon
of pleasure ended with refreshments of
ice cream, cookies, cake, and soda water.
Everybody voted they had had a spleu
did time. The week before on Satur
day the Primary and Intermediate class
es of the Union Sunday School with their
teachers aud friends had a very good
time on the lawn in front of Mr. Pen-
hallow house. A large number were
present, aud all had a good time playing
the childreu's games and enjoying the
refreshments that were liberally pruvid
ed by the mothers of the Sunday School
pupils.

OP HAWAII.
The Repulican Precinct Clubs
thuronghout the Territory are hereby
notified to meet on the evening of Fri
day, the 26th of August, 1910, at 7:30
o'clock, to make nominations for dele
gates to a Territorial Convention and
also to County and District Conventions.
The Humiliations shall be Ojien from 7:30
to 8 o'clock p. 111. and shall be filed in
writing with the Chairman of the meet
ing. The persons so nominated shall be
voted for at a primary election to be
held in each precinct on Saturday the
3rd day of September, I910, between the
hours of 2 and 7 o'clock p. 111.
The Territorial Convention will meet
in Honolulu on Monday, the 12th day
of September, 1910, and nominate a can
didate for delegate to Congress and elect
a Territorial Central Committee.
The Comity and District Conventions
will meet in their respective Counties at
a time and place to be fixed by the res-
(ic-ctive County Committee, and uomi-
liate candidates for the Legislature and
Municipal and Cou-ty Officers and elect
their respective County Committees

precinct will be entitled in said conven
