HONOLULU, April 17. There have been three . death from
cholera to date. All Hawaiians. One of those who died was a guard.
The bill providing for the election of supervisors-at-laree for Maui
passed its second reading in the House Saturday. All Maui members
voting in favor of it with the exception of VVaiaholo.
No appointment has yet been made to the position of city physi
cian. Dj. Raymond may get the appointment.
HONOLULU, April 15. Dr. Mackall the Uity and County Phy
sician has resigned. Dr. Emerson is temporarily in charge. Dr.
Hobdy has been offered the position but declined. The Board of
Health has been accused of acting in bad faith.

cholera. Another test is being made.
The Spanish and Portuguese immigrants have been landed at the
Channel wharf, and at quarantine island.

Peace Offered Madero.
CHIHUAHUA, April 18. Delegates approached Madero yester
day with peace proposals. They were forced to leave the railroad 90
miles Bouth of this city. Rebels had destroyed a bridge and cut lines
of Mexican Central.
DOUGLAS, April 18. Seven Americans in this city were wound
ed yesterday by bullets from across the line.
WASHINGTON, April 18. The State department has demanded

SAN FRANCISCO, Aril 17. The steamer Senator arrived yester
day with 126 laborers on board. The laborers refuse to tranship to
Alaska, and demand to be landed.
Ultimatum Sent Rebels.
AGUA PRIETA, Mexico, April 15. Heavy reinforcements ar
rived last night. The insurgents under Lopez carried the attack all
day in the face of machine gun fire. Last night an American officer
delivered an ultimatum to Lopez, if any more bullets were sent into
the town of Douglas, he would cross the border with his cavalry, and
put an end to the fighting.
WASHINGTON, April 15. A special cabinet meeting was called
yesterday afternoon to consult on the situation on the Mexican border
