Riot After Accident.
OPORTO, Dec. 13. A railroad accident occurred here in which
14 were killed. The accident led to a riot, and an attempt was made
to capture the railroad officials. The militia has been called out.
NEW YORK, Dec. 13. The American and National Leagues are
wrangling about the scalping of tickets in the recent World's series.
LONDON, DeCj 13. The House of Lords has rejected the arrange
ment made by the admiralty with representatives of the powers regard
ing the rights of beligerants in taking prizes.
TEHERAN, Dec. 13.Russia has agreed to allow financier Schus

TOKIO, Dec. 13. Shanghai has been selected as the place of

DELHI, Dec. 13. This city has come to its own again by being

NEW YORK, Dec. 13 A meeting called to urge the Senate to

- LOS ANGELES, Dec. 12. Lockwood, the unsummoned juror in
the McNamnra cafe, testified before the federal grand jury, that he
heard Bert Franklin, former deputy United States marshal say he
would arrange amount of bribe with Darrow, attorney for the defense.
Bain testified that Franklin had bribed him, saying he had $20,000

Outlook For Peace.
TOKIO, Dec. 9. The outlook for peace in China is better than at
any time since the revolntion started. Fighting has been suspended
and peace envoys will meet at once.
PEKIN, Dec. 9. It is reported that the massacre of foreigners is
more startling than at first reported. Four Americans were killed. A
serious quarrel has broken out between Yuan Shi Kai and the brother
of the Prince Regent.
WASHINGTON, Dec. 9. No solution has yet been found regard
ing the stand taken by Russia relative to American passports for jews.
NEW YORK, Dec. 9 Ethan Allen, a noted lawyer is dead.
GUAYMAS, Mexico, Dec. 9. Trouble is feared in Sonora county.
The Indians repudiate the peace treaty made recently, and demand the
return of lands taken from them by the Diaz administration.
WASHINGTON, Dec. 9. Admirals Wainwright and Rogers will
be retired this month.
HONOLULU, Dec. 13. Gordon seems not to be an aviator, but a
high flyer. He has been arrested for passing worthless checks. He was

HONOLULU, Dec. 12. McMahon has been found guilty of volun
tary manslaughter. He will be sentenced later. The maximum pe
nalty is ten years.
The governor will ask for a speedy dredging of Honolulu harbor

$10,000 damages for injuries sustained.

HONOLULU, Deo. 9. Manuel Andrews, an old kamaaina died
yesterday of dengue.
The Inter-Island Company has sent for a floating dock for Hono
Pearl Harbor will be opened to the cruiser California on Thursday.
Banana claims amounting to $2500 have been file. .
The army and navy are contemplating the establishment of mili
tary policy in Honolulu, on account of the attacks of gangs of . hoodlums
and the failure of the local police to restrict them. Fourteen hood

One death from smallpox occurred yesterday among the immigrants
