in the 800 metre relay race. The points scored yesterday were as fol
lows. America 100, Sweden 71, Great Britain 53, Germany 26. '
Patterson of Vermont leaped 24 feet, 11 inches in the broad jump.
The cross country race was won by Swedeu, America 4th.

WASHINGTON. July 15. Loriner has been found guilty of cor
ruption, and ousted from his seat in the senate. The vote was 55 to
28. The end was dramatic.
RHEIMS, July 15. Vedrines, the French aviator won the Ben
net cup race for 200 kilometres. He drove his machine at the rate of
105 miles an hour.
DENVER, July 15. A cloudburst here rendered the streets im
passable for hours. The damage is estimated at a million dollars.

STOCKHOLM, July 15 K. K. Mac Arthur of South Africa won
the marathon in 2 hours, 36 minutes. He fainted after crossing the

WASHINGTON, July 16 The Interstate Commerce Commis
sion has caused a sensation, by calling for sweeping reforms in the ex

WASHINGTON, July 16. Koot and Burton said in the genate

WASHINGTON, July 17. The senate has passed a resolution
censuring the interference of President Taft in the Lorimer case.
The house committee investigating the Steel Trust will recommend
its dissolution.
The republican managers will begin strengthening their fenceB in
Ohio. Machine politicians will receive greater consideration.
NEW YORK, July 17. Herman Rosenthal, a well known gam'jler,
was shot to death from several directions today, while talking to the
district attorney. The attorney said the murdered man had pledged
himself to give information relative to police grafting. One arrest
followed.
PARIS, July 17. Word has been received that aviator Lathrop
has been gored to death by a wild bull while hunting in South Africa.
STOCKHOLM, July 17. Duke Kahananioku easily won the final
in the 100 metre swimming race in 63 2-5 seconds. The OlympianB
have all left for home.

HONOLULU, July 16. Walker's boat-house has been completely
destroyed by fire. The Puunene boat was the only thing insured and
the only thing saved. Loss $10,000.
The little son of C. G. Bartlett had the fingers of one hand blown
off, while playing with dynamite cartridges.
The children of Dr. Sun Yet Sen received a warm welcome when
they arrived here.
