I, JAS. N. K. KEOLA, Deputy Assessor and Collector of Taxes for the District
of Wailukn, Second Taxation Division, Territory of Hawaii, do hereby give notice
that I will, in pursuance of the provisions of Section 1266A of the Revised Lews of
Hawaii, upon Saturday, the 17th day of January, A. D. 19 14, at I a o'clock noon of
said nay, in front ot the Court House at Wailuku, County of Maui, in said Terri
tory, SELL ALL THE RIGHT, TITLE, and INTEREST of Wm. K. MAKAKOA,
in and to the piece of land described in Royal Patent 51 II, Land Commission
Award 3456 to Keliinui. situate at Kaohe, Ohia, Waiehu, Wailuku District, said
County of Maui, containing about one and 4-100 acres, more or less, (viz: ap. 1,
.02; ap. 4, .10; ap. 3, .53; and ap. 4, .75 acre,) nt Public Auction to the highest
bidder for cash (gold) to satisfy the lien for taxes thereon, together with interests,
penalties and all costs as follows:

Mortgagee's Notice ol Intention
to Foreclose, and of Sale.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that,
under the power of sale contained in
that certain mortgage of date May I,
1910, from Thoftias Clark, of Wailuku,
County of Maui, Territory of Hawaii, to
the Wailuku Market and Land Company,
Limited, a domestic corporation, of re
cord in the Office of the Registrar of
Conveyances, in Honolulu, in Liber 347,
on pages 391 to 394, the present owner
and holder thereof intends to foreclose
said mortgage and sell the mortgaged
property therein named becuuse of non
payment of principal and interest due on
the promissory note secured thereby.
The above mentioned mortgage was
given to secure the paymeut ol a promis
sory note for Three Hundred Dollars of
even date with said mortgage, payable
three years after date, and bearing inter
est at the rate of 10 per annum, pay
able semi-annually, executed by said
Thomas Clark and L;vina Clark, to and
in favor of the Wailuku Market and
Land Company, Limited; said Wailuku
Market and Land Company, Limited,
still being the owner and holder of both
said note and mortgage.
NOTICE IS LIKEWISE GIVEN that,
after the expiration of three weeks from
date of first publication of this Notice, to
wit, on Saturday, January 3rd, 1914, at
12 o'clock noon of said day, the said
mortgaged property, for the reasons
above stated, will be sold at public auc

SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 22. George P. Cooke, of Molokni, wife
and mother, were shaken up in a train wreck on the Santa Fe road
yesterday.
Governor Pinkham may come to Hawaii on the Jacklang yacht
which sails soon for the islands.
WASHINGTON, Dec. 22. The approval of the Senata and the
signature of the President are needed to make the Currency Bill law.
FRESNO, Dec. 22. Over one hundred men are being fed by the
town until work can be secured for them.
CITY OF MEXICO, Dec. 2'i, The soldiers of Huerta now say,
''No pay, no fight." Huerta will have to get money somewhere to
ptiy the troops.
TOKIO, Dec. 22. A Mexican envoy is here and is working on be

A woman, posing as the cashier of Wall Nicols Co., bought goods
all over town and has been landed in jail.
The supervisors and the harbor commissioners will adjust the
waterfront improvement affairs.
Tom Gunn made two good flights yesterday and then, when land
ing in the harbor, broke his machine.
The corn crop of the Parker Ranch is larger than needed for the
cattle of the ranch. There is a surplus of over 2,000 tons.
NEW YORK. Dec. 22. The State is suing the Sugar Trust and
wants to compel the trust to remove its great plant from Brooklyn.
WASHINGTON, Dec. 21. It is reported today that Colonel
Roosevelt has had a clash with Minister Martinez, of Chili. Teddy
raised trouble when speaking of the Monroe doctrine. Martinez said
the doctrine was a "dead one."
LONDON, Dec. 21. The warship New Zt-alnnd is home again
after a world's tour.
TOKIO, Dec. 21. Japan factories are making ammunition and
arms for Mexico. Japanese say it is a regular business derl.

the herds of Oahu are clean.
Founders' Day at Kamehameh.'i Schools wa-! celebrated in the
usual way yesterday.
Jack Belser, the well known contractor, ran down a Portuguese
boy yesterday and killed him. The boy ran in front of the car just as
it skidded. No blame can be attached to Belter.
The Inter-Island Co., asks for a non-suit in the Stackwell damage
suit.
Local people will test the income tax law and expect to win out.
WASHINGTON, Dec. 19. The Currency Bill passed by 53 to 34,
after a vigorous debate. La Follette said that steps are being taken
to control small banks.
SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 19. The Hetchy Hetchy water bill pass
ed, and the President has signed it. It is taken as an omen that the
President wants to currv favor in California.
WASHINGTON, Dec. 19. The telephone and telegraph compan
ies have agreed to reorganization. Government ownership has been
dropped.
JUAREZ, Dec. 19. War conditions are quiet. Villa agrees to
pay foreigners for damagn done to their property.
