Legislators Favor
New Farm Loan Bill

dit of the territory In putting out these
mortgages It Is required to replace any
which may be in default with others.
Long Time, Easy Payments
The bill provides for three principal
classes of loans. The first, which may
run for 40 years, is for permanent
improvements. The second class, run
ning not over 15 years, la for build
ings, machinery, live stock, etc. The
third is for not exceeding 5 years, and
is to finance single crops.
Provision is also made for secur
ing money to cancel existing lndebt
ness; and a clause also exists which
permits the loan board to lend money to
a group of framers for financing coop
erative enterprises, such as canneries,
mills, creameries, etc.
Board's Control Absolute
The granting or refusing of loan for
any purpose to any person, rests ab
solutely with the board. This board
shall consist of 3 members, including
the commissioner of public lands.
One member must be a practical farm
er. They serve without pay.
The hill provides that 60 percent of
the value of the security shall be the
maxlmun loan, and all loans are to be
paid on an amortization plan, in such
manner that at the end of the loan
period both principal and Interest
shall have been paid off In equal annual
Installments, the Interest, of course
reducing in amount as the principal
decreases.
Must Live On Land
The bill now drawn requires that
loans may be made only to citizens
of the United States, and to persons
who live at least 6 days in the week,
and 11 months in the year on their
land.

421, pages 233-237, said mortgage hav
ing been given to secure the payment
of a promissory note for the sum of
One Thousand Seven Hundred Dol
lars, of date December 31, 1914, pay
able one day after date, and drawing
eight percent interest per annum;
said First National Bank of Walluku,
the mortgagee, (still the owner and
holder of said note and mortgage) In
tends to, and will foreclose Bald mort
gage for conditions broken, that is to
say, for non-payment of the principal
sum due on said note, and for non
payment of interest due thereon.

the 19th day of February ,1917, at
twelve o'clock noon of said day, the

wao, Maui, and Rebecca Nicholas, of

Valley Isle Theater, Limited, of date
September 26, 1914, acknowledged be
fore Eugene Murphy, which lease
covers all that certain piece and
parcel of land situate in the 111 of
Peepee, said piece of land being gen
erally an dcommonly known as the
"Butcher Shop Lot," on Market Street,
in Wailuku, County of Maul, Territory
of Hawaii, together with the rights,
privileges and appurtenances thereun
to belonging; and
The Theater or (and) show-house
building erected and located on the
lot of land (lease-hold premises) here
inabove described.
