SONG OP THE FOBOE.
We give below thb "Bong or the Forge' a
spirited and powerful poem. Bien compared
with Schiller's famous "Song of th Bell," It re
mains unsurpassed. Many years ago it went the
round of the papers, starting, we believe, from
BlaekuoodiS Magasine. It then took a Rip Van
Winkle's nap, preserved, however, in tbe admi
ring memories of the discriminating, till, after
circumnavigating the, globe, It lately reappeared
In the Calcutta Magazine, whence It .was copied,
as original, by some American Journals of more
UsCe than reading. We reprint it, to preserve
it in onr paper, "for the long day," ai we hope.
Obsarre, and admire too, the masterly variation
of the tone, in the genial description of the fa
tare coarse of the food-giving plough, in tbe
dream of the mysterious wanderings of the an

declare and subscribo tho following as my will,
Which I desire all persons to respect after toy
death, to wit:
It is my will that my debts shall be paid out
of any moneys which 1 may leave, and that so
muih of my propurty, real aud personal, at the
discretion oi my executors, sbull be sold, as
shall be necessary to pay all my debts.
It is also my will that, after my said debts
shall bo paid, all tho residue of my property,
personal and real, shall bo divided by my execu
tors Into two equal parts, and that ono part
thereof ahull belong to my two children, Rob
ert M. Douglas and Stephen A. Douglas, and
that the other part thereof that is to say. one
half ot all toy property, real and personal, aud

to, and is hereby declared to belong to, my dear
and beloved wiio, Adelo Cutta Douglas.
It is also my will mid positive direction that
my said wlfa shall be, and she is hereby de
clared tp be, tbe sole guardian of my said chil
dren, and that she shall have the possession,
cpntrol, and education of them until they shall
respectively nrrivo at the a go, of twonty one
years, knowing her to be the best person in the
world to perform this sacred trust.
It is also my will that my said wife, Adele
Cults Douglas, and, my friend and relative.
Daniel P. Khodes, of Cleveland, Ohio, be and
they are hereby declared my executors to carry
this will into effect, and to that end I do hereby
waive all legul process and letters of adminis
tration, and dispenso with any and all security
on the part of my said executors, aud direct
that they may proceed and executo this will
