The Wheat Market About Stationary, I
Though Prices Are Firmer.
Poultry In Good Supply and Selling
Bather Slowly—Butter Firm I
at Quoted Prices.
SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 29th.
There is very little doing in Hops, and
the quoted figures are n .^er easy. The
local Wheat market is about stationary, j
as far as volume of trade is concerned,
but prices are held more firmly.
There was not much activity in the local
Produce markets yesterday, and but very
few changes in quotations were an
nounced. The receipts of the day were
liberal, but not. excessive, and there was
considerable remaining unsold at the close
of the day's business.
In the Fresh Fruit line the trade was !
confined mostly to Oranges. Choice Xavels
are held fjuite firmly at the present quota- j
tions, but Seedlings are quiet, and there is
some shading of asking figures in order
to reduce accumulated supplies. The best j
qualities of Apples are meeting with a ■
good steady inquiry, and values change j
but little from day to day. Persimmons
tod Pears are neglected. There are oc
casional small quantities of Grapes com
ing to hand, but the quality is not •
choice, and sales are slow, with prices un
settled. Cranberries remain steady, and
the inquiry shows but little signs of de
orease in volume.
Dried Fruits are inactive, the quantities
moving being very small. Prices are held
steady, however, and the outlook for hold
ers is not discouraging.
Supplies of Butter are fairly liberal, and
sales are extensive. Prices are held lirmly
at the quoted rates. Strictly choice Ranch
Eggs are coming to hand in small lots,
and under a good demand prices aie a
little higher and firm. Poultry is in good
supply, and selling rather slowly. Game
meets with a light inquiry.
The Potato market is quiet, and the
expected demand from the southern sec
tion of the State has not yet materialized,
although it is daily looked for. Receipts
from the North are heavier, and values
have a weaker tendency. Sweet Potatoes
are very scarce, and gT>od stock brings
top prices readily. Honey appears to
move off quite readily, but the market
cannot be called active.
