The significance of rapid transit
is illustrated by the fact that a pro
minent county official resides in
Kapaa alid does business in Lihue
going to and fro every day by the
auto bus. This is a significant be
ginning of that which comes to
every congested community the
search for suburban homes at a
distance where land values . are
lower and fresh air.more abundant.
We congratulate Kapaa on its
promising future as a residence
suburb of Lihue.

fairly makes one wish they were
down in the store right now.
The Lihue Store has a splendid
variety of Christmas toys, on the
second floor; all kinds of seasonable
decorations are also to be seen.
The elevator takes you to Toy-
Land, Umsteigen."
T. I. Silva the genial merchant
from Eleele was a visitor to the
countv seat last Saturday. He has
a splendid assortment of Christmas
goods over at his store, just take a
peep at them.
Miss Graham of San Francisco
was a departing passenger on the
last Kmau.
James D. Dougherty returned to
the city last Saturday after trans
acting a veiy lively business.
Chiefly owing to the absence of
one of its main stands byes our lo
cal bowling team did not make
their usual fine showing i h the
contest against Maui last Wednes
day. Although Kauai made a high
er total score Maui got away with
the two first games.
The games were as follows:
Maui 910 815 751
Kauai 798 814 875
The second game, as will be
seen above was lost by a single
pin. This puts Kauai, Honolulu
and Maui even.

Ye who live on Fair Kauai,
Listen to this tale I tell you,
Of a table filled with nicknacks
With a whoop to tell your courage,
On that table there are dollies,
Little cushions of all colors,
Prettv baskets, mats and trinkets,
Little" cupids, fat and lazy,
Only go thou to that table,
Go there filled with warrior's cou
rage, Make your eye take aim so care-full,
That when you have spent your
money,
You will have both hands and arms
full,
Take of money, many nickels,
Spend them freely at that table,
So that when the Fair is over,
Homeward you will gorejong ici

The grand finale scene of the
Carnival which will represent an
a'rtMical eruption of Punchbowl;
should be a sight to be remember
ed for many a day, It will consti
t u t e an unprecedented event;
which under good weather condi
tions must result in forming one
of the star features of the festive
program. As the people turn
away from viewing the water
carnival they will be awed by the
spectacle of a fiery seething mass
of volcanic disturbance which will
keep old Kilauea on the Qui Viye
to beat it.
