which the Civic Forum honored Tl.omas Alvah Edison as a national
testimonial for his "distinguished public service." Edison was laud
ed and praised by a host of men of international distinction at' the
presentation of the medal which took place at CarncR'e hall, New
York, Mav 6th. Dr. Nicholas Murray Butler, President of Columbia
University, who is seen hete ptesentin:; the token of the Civic Forum
to the inventor of the phonograph, electric light and motion picture,
said in p;rt. "if the European war represents the triumph of brute
force over the better nature of man, this award represents the ttiumph
