Ktlitor tiardiMi Inland:
A little more than score of years
ago Hawaiian unties came into
being, and at first there was little
thought given to portrayal of real
serviceable instruments, such as
Guitars, Ukuleles, Cellos, Violins,
anything to give a good promis
ing and harmonious music. But
there were far-sighted men who
realized the tremendous possibilities
of the Hawaiian musics and were
Tmiek to grasp the opportunites. One
thing which strongly militiated any
any extended Hawaiian musical
club nt first was the making and
the cost of getting serviceable in
struments. Clubs were poor, in
strument unservieeably made, and
besides the public was skeptical.
The idea of a good musical club tak
ing certain serviceable instruments
and carry them through an entire
course, of service, was not seriously
thought of for some time. But
musical genius went into the prob
lem time after time, and with the
improvement in the instruments
necessary to make a good club came
the development of Hawaiian mu
The Peter Malina's Club therefore
is now giving a dance with which
the proceeds netted thereby will be
exclusively used for serviceable in
struments as well as other required
equipments necessary to makea good
clean and well-like musical organi
zation by all. Ocassionally, the club
has given liberal entertainings, and
to maintain that spirit, the club ask
for your support.
The dance will start at 7:30 p.
in. and closes at 12 midnight on
Saturday night, March 3rd 1917,
at the Lihue Social hall. Admission
