LOCAL LAND LIS
The following bill has been in
troduced in the Legislature:
Section 1. The Commissioner
of Public Lands acting with the
approval of the Governor, is here
by authorized in the name and on
behalf of the Territory to acquire,
take, hold, and receive, as trustee,
agent, in fee simple or otherwise,
any private lands for homestead or
settlement purposes, and to dis
pose of the same in anv manner
permitted by law and conformable
to the provisions of the grant
thereof. All or any portion of the
moneys realized as rentals or from
the sale or disposition of private
lands hereafter conveyed to the
Territory for such purposes, in
cluding interest on deferred pay
ments, may be set apart by the
Land Commission with the ap
proval of the Governor, and used
for the purpose of paying for the
lands so acquired or for the acqui
sition of other lands for like pur
poses. The Treasurer of the Ter
ritory shall keep all moneys so re
ceived and set apart in a separate
deposit, and shall disburse the
same on warrants drawn bv the
Auditor, issue only on approved
vouchers of the Commissioner of
Public Lands. Any balances from
time to time remaining in such
special deposits as well as any
moneys so derived and not set
apart under the provisions of this
Act shall be subject to the provi
sions of Act 62 of the Session
Laws of 1911, and if not used
under the provisions thereof shall
be subject to anv other applicable
provisions of law.
Section 2. All laws and parts
of laws inconsistent with or repug
nant to the provisions hereof, to
the extent ot such inconsistency
or repugnancy are herbv repealed.
