Upon the motion of Mr. McBryde
seconded by Mr. Brandt the sum
of nineteen hundred and fifty dol
lars (1950.00) was appropriated as
additional appropriations for the

out of moneys available in the

The regular monthly business
meeting of the Hoard of Supervisors
of the Couifly of Kauai for the
month of July 1917, was held at
the ollice of the Board on Thursday
the 5th day of the month nt 10
o'clock a m.
Present: H. I). Wishard, chair
man, T. Brandt, W. I). McBryde,
J. Bettencourt, Jr
Mr. Mencfoglio was absent on
account of illness.
The reading of the minutes of
the last two meetings was postponed
until the next meeting.
A few bills which have lieen suli
mitted for the action of the Board,
after examination, received the ap
proval of the latter, and the bills
to lie paid out of tho following appropriations;

Policies Nos. 4877, 4878, 4879,
and 4880, of the Home Insurance
Company of Hawaii, Limited, of
insurance for damages by fire on
the nurses' cottage, servants' cot
tages and their furnitures, launduy
and machinery, Administration
Building, Hospital and its furni
tures, lielonging to the Samuel Ma
helona Memorial Hospital at Kapaa
were received from P.. L. Rice,
agent of the Insurance Company
and ordered placed on file and they
are to bo kept in the County Clerk's
office for safe keeping.
After careful consideration of the
situation the Board upon the motion
of Mr. Brandt, seconded by Mr.
Bettencourt Jr., appropriated the
sum of twenty six thousand six
hundred seventy three dollars and
fifty cents ($26,673.50) as addi
tional appropriations for the pur
poses enumerated herinbelow, same
t6 be paid out of moneys available
in the Treasury as follows:

By unanimous vote the board al
lowed the jailors at Waimea and
the one at Lihue and his assistant
an increase of pay of five dollars
more for each per month.
A verbal offer of thirty dollars
($30.00) by Jas. von Ekekela who
acted on behalf of J. E. Kamaka-i
of Anahola, his father, in full set
tlement of the hitter's claim for
land taken by the county at Ana
hola for its road purposes, upon the
motion of Mr. McBryde, seconded
by Mr. Brainlt and by an unani
mous vote was accepted, the money
to be Daid upon the filing with the
county clerk of a quitclaim deed
from J. E. Kamaka-i.
. Mr. Bettencourt, Jr., upon his
own request was given full authority
to proceed and improve the fence
enclosing the pound at Kapaa.
At 11 o'clock a. in. the meeting
adjourned subject to the call of the
