Annual Meeting of the
Board of Supervisors
The annual meeting of the Board
of Supervisors of the County of
Kauai was held at the office of the
Hoard on Saturday, Dec. 15, 1917,
at 10 o'clock a. m.
Present: II. D. Wishard, chair
man; T. Brandt, W. D. McBryde,
J. Bettencourt, Jr., A. Menefoe-
Miss B. E. L. Hundley, supervis
ing principal, was present to con
fer with the board on matters of
construction of new school rooms,
and teachers cottages.
After general discussion had on
the matter of building new school
rooms and teachers cottages, the
Board resolved to build as soon as
practicable a teachers cottage for
Makawcli, one bungalow for Hana-
pepe, and one bungalow for the
Kapaa school. It was also resolved
to secure one of the rooms of the
Japanese school in Lihue for the
use of the Lihue public school.
A request (P 1493) from the
county treasurer for an appropria
tion of 845.00 per month for cleri
cal hire was received and placed on

At the last Civic Convention held
in Honolulu, several committees
were constituted with a member
ship representing each of the Is
These committees have now been
appointed and we have just received
notification of the same.
The first is a committee on Boy
Boy Scouts, to keep in touch with
the movement and render any aid
locally which may be possible.
The Kauai member of the com
mittee is A. II. Clymer of Port Allen,
who has had more or less experi
ence in this dort of work.
2. A committee to report to the
1919 Legislature a plan for the
creation of a Territorial Dept. of
Accounts and Audits, with E. M.
Cheatham as the Kauai memlcr.
3. A committee on good roads,
which shall stand for the Cantonier
System; for Territorial roads; the
adoption of the National svstem of
roads for these Islands, and other
wise advance the interests of good
roads in the Territory.
