LATEST FOOD REGULATIONS IN
BRIEF
In order to reduce the monthly con
sumption ot wheat Hour from 42,000,
000 bushols per month to 21,000,000
bushels per month, a reduction of 50
percent In our normal consumption,'
which Mr. Hoover states Is a military
necessity, now and more stringent
regulations are to go into effect at
once. Tho ration of wheat flour nilow
cd for each person Is six pounds per
month. Dealers arc compelled to see
to it that nono ot their customers
purchase In excess of six (G) pounds
of flour per person per month. A per
son purchasing bread from a bakor Is
allowed seven (7) pounds of Victory
bread and two (2) pounds of flour for
other purposes such as crackers, mac
aroni, etc. per month.
In Hawaii, Rico may no longer bo
purchased as a substitute In conjunc
tion with wheat flour. Rico Flour and
Rice Meal may be bought as substitu
tes, and Rice may bo bought straight
without flour as previously. This rulo
became effective April 15th.
The stores on Kauai havo agreed
not to sell hams and bacon after May
15th.
