Sunday uftcrnoou, Juno 23, tho Kn

ing and happy children, enjoyed a
novel and most delightful outing as
tho guests of Col. Z. S. Spalding.
Rendezvousing at Kcajla early in
tho afternoon, they wero convoyed by
special .train to tho Spalding homo,
tho Valley House, whero thoy wero
given tho freedom of tho plnco with
all Its wonders. Thoy took to tho
bathing tanlf as ducks to water and
had n most hilarious tlmo swimming,
jumping, diving and performing all
kinds of impromptu stunts, with a
freedom and abondon such .as only
children can enjoy. Then they had
games of nil kinds, with lots of snnp
nnd enthusiasm; and whenever thero
was a moment of interim in activity
there was a world of wonder in tho
pl.ico itsolf. Fnnlly they filed into
tho house to make tho nearer ac
quaintance of tho genial Colonel and
to soo and hear nbout tho famous old
(lag of "Island No. 10."
And to cap the climax of wonder
and delight there was tho generous
distribution of refreshments; nuts,
candy, ice cream and soda water,
dealt out on tho lawn for tho chldren,
vhilo tho tenchors wero similarly
For tho largo majority of these
children this was tho ovont of a life
time, and ns they filed back Into the
cars and wero convoyed homo to the
prosaic conditions of ovoryday life,
thoy wero most voluablo In their
childish way over the fine tlmo thoy
had had, and tlje generous hospitality
it tho Colonel.

On tho wliole, perhaps tho most
pleasing feature of It was tho group
recitation ot four little girls represent

France, England and America, in suit
able costume and displaying tho flags
of theso natlos.
Being thrift stamp Sunday, the ad
dress was appropriate to tho occasion.
The month of .June was rather a
slim month as regards to collections,
bringing in only about ?22 in fines.
Armando Perelra of Koloa, who
was charged With tho desertion of his
wife, appeared in court with tho wife
on Thursday. Tho pair kissed and
made up after tho wife had with
drawn the charge. To much parents
