Schools Will Open Late
It will be a matter of consider
able interest to teachers, parents,
children and the public generally,
to know that the public schools
of the Territory will open Sep
tember 22 instead of September
Several causes have conspired
to suggest this change, most con
vincing of which is the fact that
the teachers will not be here earl
ier. In 'aditiou to this there is apt
lo be more or less delay in school
repairs and extensions.
Bids for the New
Pearl Harbor Hospital
Fulfilling Secretary Daniels'

posed new hospital.

less than 150,000. Bids on the
work will also be opened the same
day in Washington and also in
San l ranc!sco, allowing for the
difference in time. The project
gives Honolulu contractors the
first opportunity they have had,

Monday, Labor Hay, was observ
ed as a bank and government holi
day, and some few people were
seen abroad with their Sunday
