Whitney and Rugglcs Settle
Whitney and Rugglea made an
explorationof the Isjjind and then
ent back to Honolulu to report.
Meantime Kauniu-alii continued
lis entreaties for their return,
entreaties so evidently genuine,
that j the. mission yielded, and
Messrs Whitney and Ruggles and
their families sailed in the "Lev
ant,". Captain Cary, and arrived
at Waimea -July 25, 1820. They
were met in the bay by the King
and Queen,; who expressed great
itisfaction by the oft repeated ex-

Liked Their Style of Religion
They had public .worship on
Sunday, which was attended by
tlie King and Queen and their ret

the King expressed his approval.
I like your way of worship very
much. My old way was pupuku. I

At the same time he inquired with
good deal of interest concerning
the feasibility of securing ship

powder-makers, etc. Doubtless
these seemed to him even more im
portant than missionaries.

"I send you my aloha, and tell
you I am your friend.
