The hour and the man
do not meet by chance,
but when they do,
a leader is born.
Leadership is bred in the. bone,
therefore this Dank did not
grow to its present size
through mere luck
Its growth is directly
attributable to its instant
recognition of the needs of
the community by promptly
and continuously meeting those
needs as they arise.

Work in Kapaa was started last

afternoon in the home of Mrs. Mat'
suura. Mrs. .Yanagihara, wife of Dr.
Yanagihara, acted as interpreter at
our first meeting. Mrs. Yanagihara
has strong social inclinations, and
says she is looking forward eagetly
to fun times in the class.
Mrs. Chong of Waimea, is gather

kindly providing the sewing machine.
The class will hold its meetings in
the Y. M. C. A. hall.
The Woman's Exchange, established
through the well-directed and tireless
energy of Mrs. Brandt of Waimea,
offers a fine opportunity to our sewing
classes for making quite a few extra
dollars. We hope to rise to the oc
casion some day.
The Helping Hand Club which Mrs.
Midkiff entertained last week has
henceforth a wholesome fear of Miss
Gladys Thompson. Why? Oh, because
she is such a cruel judge of forfeit.
How would you like to be the victim
of some such sentences as these:
"Make a noise like a Koua nightin
gale. "Make a noise like a chicken with a
bit of grass in its throat."
When the judge was asked to des
cribe the latter sound she replied,
"Mr. Midkiff brew! Mr. Midkiff brew!
