LIHUE SOCCER TEAM FORFEITS
KOLOA AND MAKAWELI GAMES
Because they played a man whons
not on their list of players, the Llhu
Soccer team forfeits the two garnet
they have won from Koloa and Malta
well. Such was the decision rend r
ed by the officials of the soccer league
at a meeting held at Koloa hall last
The strange part of it is that Lihue
was hot aware that hey were playing
a man not on the list. There are two
Schumacher boys on the team and
their names were both on the original
list, but in typing the copy to send to
the secretary of the league, Captain
Kuhlraann inadvertently left one of
the names out, and was not aware of
the fact until the secretary of the
league notified him that Makaweli had
protested the game.
We are extremely gratified to an
nounce, however, that both Koloa and
Makaweli teams have flatly refused to
accept the games thus awarded them
because of a clerical error. Doth
teams declare they were out-played
by Lihue and were beaten fairly and
squarely. They have signified their
willingness td play the games over
again in case it Is necessary to decide
the championship. This is what wo
call true sportsmanship.
The following letter from Captain
A. Siebel, of the Makaweli team, was
received by Captain Kuhlmann of the
Lihue team, regarding the matter:
November 5, 1920.
Mr. C. Kuhlmann, N
Captain Lihue Soccer Team,
Realizing that it was not the intent
ion of the Lihue Soccer Team to play
in opposition to the Soccer League
rules and also that Makaweli desires
to win its games by actual playing, it
was decided at a meeting of the Mak
aweli Soccer team held today to pro
pose to the Lihue team the following:
That the forfeited game of last Sun
day be considered a postponed game
under the following conditions:
1. That the League sanctions such
2. That said postponed game be
played in Eleele, thus making two
games at each ground Lihuo and
3. That the present standing of the
teams remain as they are until the
close of the season and that the game
in question be played then If it in any
way affects the championship.
4. That the line up for this game
shall be made up entirely from the
list of he secretary of the league at
the time of playing the forfeited game.
Yours very truly,
MIDWINTER LEAGUE OPENS

The game between the Filipinos and

the home team by a score of 9 to 3.
Although Grove Farm had much the
