THE GARDEN ISLAND, TUESDAY, JAN. 4, 1921
The secretary of the Chamber
of Commerce is in receipt of a let

Brazil is distinctively the Am
erican country of the southern
continent. In sympathy, in civil
ization, in form of government it
stands the nearest to the United
States and it is particularly de
sired that our country be gener
ously represented in every possible
way at that centennial.
Brazil imports more than half
her needs from the United States,
and exports to the same country
in like proportions, thus giving to
the United States a volume of
business equal to that given to all
other countries combined, and ag
gregating the round sum of $ 1,
000,000000. , Brazilians are flocking to the
United States for education,
which means that thereby the
bonds of union, and the tines of
influence are being strengthened.
Brazil in natural resources and
inherent possibilities is one of the
greatest countries on earth, with
a future before that outruns pro
phecy. In every way it is a coun
try to be reckoned with and cuti-vaated.
