An adjourned meeting of the Board
f Supervisors of the County of
Kauai was held at the office of the
Board on Monday April 11, 1921, at
9:00 a. m.
Present: H. D. Wishnrd, Chairman,
T. Brandt, W. D. McBryde, J. F. Bet
tencourt Jr. and A. Menefoglio.
An estimate of the receipts ot the
County for the six months to June
30th next, with a statement of actual
disbursements for the three months
to March 31st last was received and
The Board after having carefully
gone over the financial condition of
the County, by vote allowed each
district for the current three months
to June 30th next, to expend for
road work each month out of moneys
in the Road Special Deposit, not ex
ceeding the sum mentioned below,
Waimea District $2,000.00
Koloa District 2,000.00
Lihue District 2,000.00
Kawaihau District 2,500.00
Hanalei District 1,500.00
and for work on the retaining wall,
Wailua Bridge, a sum not exceeding
five hundred dollars ($500.00) a
month for three mouths to June 30,
next, and to be drawn against the
account for Permanent Improvement
Fund, may be expended.
The County Road Supervisor by
the same vote was instructed to see
that no district shall exceed Its all
owances. The request of Honorable William
C. Achi Jr. Judge of the local Cir
cuit Court for appropriations for sal
aries etc, for the Assistant Clerk of
his Court and for a probation officer
presented to the Board at its last
meeting (April 6th last) was, after
having been carefully considered, al
lowed and appropriations approved as
Salary for Assistant Clerk,
for three months to June
30th next at f 150 a mouth.... $450.00
Salary and expenses of a pro
bation officer for 2 months.... 300.00
A verbal request from J. M. Spald
ing of Kealia to be permitted to
fence in the Kapaa Park grounds,
for public uses, was granted. It de
veloped during the consideration of
the above request that the Kapaa
Park premises were merely set aside
by the Commissioner of Public Lands
for public uses, the Board therefore
voted to petition the Governor to set
aside this land for park purposes by
an Executive Order. The clerk was
authorized to forward the petition.
At 11:30 a. in. th meeting adjourn
ed but subject to the call of the chair.
