Rust Resisting
Ordinary iron, full of impurities and wholly unfitted to
cope with tropical conditions, starts to rust almost
immediately after being exposed to the weather.
Armco iron resists rust. It is 5)!).S4: per cent pure and
there are no internal stresses to weaken it. Armco is made
to resist the rain and sun of the tropics.
It pays to specify "Armco".

Extension Program Goes
to Maui May 16-21
The final extension program of
the present school year is to be
offered on Maui May 10 to 21.
Greater variety will characterize
this program, the service includ
ing not only ngriculture and
school visits but also instruction
in dressmaking and design.
Lectures on psychology and on
literature will also be included in
the program.
The Maui Women's Club has
taken the initiative in pushing
much of this program on Maui, es
pecially the parts relating to the
schools and the women. The Ag
ricultural portion has been plan
ned largely by Mr. P. G. Krauss
in consultation with representa
tive plantation men and home
steaders. The University of Hawaii will
send for this service Professors
Henke, Andrews and Crawford
and Madame Dahl, well known
costume designer. The II. S. P.
A. will cooperate by sending Mr.
O. II. Swezey, entomologist, and
the U. S. Experiment Station will
be represented by Mr. F. G.
Krauss who resides on Maui at
the present time.
Agricultural talks will be given
at Kahului, Paia Plantation, Hai
ku,L ahaina and perhaps at other
points also. Madame Dahl will
carry on most of her work at Ka
hului, with women coming to her
there from all parts of the county.
She will lecture on costume de
signing at the high school and
probably also at Lahaina. The
time at her disposal is of course
too short to give very much in
struction, but will permit only a
start which will be followed up
later by more and longer work.
Dr. A. L. Andrews will go to
Maui a few days later, giving
lectures on subjects pertaining to
literature and psychology, at La
haina and Kahului and perhaps
Wailuku. On the. other exten
sion service trips Professor Flan
ders has lectured on education
and psychology. At a later date
he will probably go to Maui, also.
The University entered into
this service this year as an experi
mental proposition and feels now
that it is successful and fills a
real need and is appreciated.
There is no question at all but
that it will be continued in the
coming years and will expand as
rapidly as conditions permit.
The Extension Service Commit
tee, of which Mr. Crawford is
chairman, has recommended a
larger program of work for next
academic year beginning in Sep
tember. These plans are being
worked out and fitted to the
available funds. Correspondence
courses may be instituted next
year as well as other new features.

WEDDING AT KIPU
Hawaiian luau found their places
there.
The bridal couple tried to make
a safe departure, but it was im
possible, and thev left amid a
shower of rice and to the tune of
many tin cons tied to their automobile.
Mr. and Mrs. Scharsch will live
at the home of the bride's parents
until they can settle in Lihue.
"Mr. Bob" Makes
A Hit At Waimea
The High School play, "Mr.
Bub", given at Waimea last Sat
urday night was, if possible, a
greater success than at Lihue
judged from the standpoint of fin
ished acting. The players had
such confidence that it savored of
professionalism, which is saying
a lot for the young folks of Kauai.
The house was filled with a most
appreciative audience and their
enjoyment of the clever little farce
was evident in the laughter and
applause that followed every little
quirk in the play. Much credit
is due Mr. McDonald and the Wai
mea girls' reserve for the sale of
tickets and the order of the hall.
The Chinese church sold icecream
and punch to the crowd at the
dance following the play. It was
understood that this was for the
benefit of the Chinese relief. The
receipts for the play at Waimea
amounted to S127.

their preparations for a hasty de

in the outfield were hoed up last

A very pretty wedding took
place on Saturday, May 14th, at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Aki of Kipu, when their daughter
Harriet became the bride of Ed

daisies. Mrs. Bayless played
the Wedding March from "Lohen

white embroidered voile gown,
with a veil, of tulle and orange
blossoms, and carried a bouquet
of white daisies and maidenhair
fern. Miss Agnes Scharsch, sis
ter of the groom, was bridesmaid,
and Enoka Lovell, groomsman.
Under the skillful direction of
Mrs. K. C. Ahana, the house was
tastefully decorated with beauti
ful potted plants and many lovely
flowers.
Although the ceremony was
strictly a family affair, many
guests attended the reception and

were set on the large lanai of the
