The Japanese maintained their
stride in the indoor baseball league
by defeating the Portuguese in a
close battle by the score fo 11-9. The
Portuguese started right after Yo
shida in the first inning and scored
five runs but the Japanese kept
plugging along until they tied the
score and finally won out in the
last inning of the game.
The Legion shoved the Haoles a
little further down in the cellar by
defeating them in an exciting game
the final score being 12-9. The Le
gion started out and held a good
lead until the seventh inning when
the Haoles made four runs and tied
the score. The Legion came back in
their half and made three more runs
and held the cellarite scoreless af
ter that. Jimmy Spalding and Foster
Horner both pulled off the fielding
features of the evening when they
each picked a line drive out of the
air in a sensational manner.

Lihue Defeats Makaweli.
Lihue tied with McBryde for the
first place in the Kauai Soccer league
by defeating Makaweli 1 to 0,
while the Scots were playing a score
less tie with Koloa.
The Lihue-Makaweli game wad a
hard fought battle with the Lihue
forwards outplaying the Makaweli
fDrwards. The defensive work of
both teams was on a par and rho

Makaweli did not seem to have
scoring ability in their forward line
and missed the services of Jimmy
Carmichael in their front line. Ihe
Makaweli team that played Lihue is
a vast improvement over1 the team
that put up such a sorry exhibition at
Eleele last Sunday.
Koloa and McBryde Play Tie.
Koloa and McBryde battled to a
scoreless tie last Sunday at Eleele
before a large crowd of fans. Koloa
has played three games and lost none
but yet has not scored a goal. What
the Koloa team lacks is scoring abil
ity is made up in their defense for
so far no team has been able to cross
their goal line.
The Scots pressed them hard in
their game Sunday and only excep
tional work by Koloa. backs kept the
Games Next Sunday.
Lihue will travel to Eleele next
Sunday to meet the Scots on their
home grounds and the winning team
will take the lead in the league.
Both teams plan to put their strong
est line up In the game and are
working for the victory that will give
them the leading position in the
Makaweli will meet Koloa at the
latter's grounds and if the Makaweli
team can defeat the Koloa boys It
will mean that they will climb out
of the cellar position and will be
able to see a little daylight. Marcus
Monsarratt will referee the Koloa
Makaweli game while David Kamio
poli will referee the Llhue-McBryde
