ing to run Its annual school and
home garden contest on Kauai again
this year. Frank S. Pugh, vocational
Instructor for tho Garden Island, is
the local man In charge of the work
and teachers and children Interested
in tho work may get full instructions
Tho Star-Bulletin has conducted
this contest on Kauai and the other
Islands for tho past four years. Tho
first year there was very llttlo Inter
est manifested here or elsewhere In
tho work. But the Idea has gradually
taken hold until now every school
on the Island and nearly every child
In tho schools Is taking part. And
this is another step in agricultural,
vocational training that Hawaii
LEASE FOR KEKAHA
BEFORE LAND BOARD
According to announcements made
this week in Honolulu by Land Com
missioner C. T. Bailey, tho question
of the Kekaha leases will in all prob
ability not bo definitely decided un
til a week from next Tuesday, It was
stated that the lease will not be ad
vertised for sale until some tlmo in
January, probably about tho middle
of tho month.
The Kekaha Sugar Co. through
their agents, the American Factors,
Ltd., have put in an application to
the land board for the re-lease of the
land. The territory will in all prob
ability sell tho land on which tho
mill Is located and the mill at pub
lic auction some time after the lease
C. V. ITTNER BREAKS
C. V. Ittnor has broken tho ex
tended fast that ho was on and is
again taking nourishment. Ho fasted
altogether 18 days and claims to
feci In fine condition. Tho first
nourishment that he took was some
orange Juice slightly diluted with wa
ter. He is taking his usual meal a
gain and says ho feels no ill effects
from his long abstinence from food
but claims to feel in much better
condition physically than when ho
