Both winning clubs had a fine day with the willow, Lihue gathering 18 bungles, while McBryde piled up 12. Furtado, who heaved for Lihuo Lad Makawell eating out of bis hand and held the- heavy-hitting westenders to four scattered bingles. Wramp was no mystery tor Lihue and was replaced by Breckenridge Who was wild but a bit more ef fective than Wramp. Bush started for Koloa but in the fourth when Isltnura elnled and Spalding homed to left center. Tilly walked and Gabriel singled, they figured he lad had enough and Cos ta took up the Job. McBryde had little or no trouble with him and piled up their lead. The score: MAKAWELI ab r h po a e Hamada 3b. 4 A. Sllva SB. 4 Salvador c. 4 Ah Nee 2b. 4. Yamase If. 4 M. Two-base hits, Watase LIHUEMAKAWELI NOTES Joe Tasheras three bagger was a lire drive that Lit the score board and would have been good for a circuit clout If it had not crashed against the boards. Joe had a fine day at the bat, getting two blows out ot two trips to thu pan, one a double and the other a triple. Not bad for a little fellow. Robello collected four out of six for his share one being a double. Every man on the club got a blow but Fuji I. This hard working parently has lost his confidence. A couple of side line managers who would not know a ball player if they saw Ty Cob in uniform have started to ride ttxi game little fel low and it has not helped, matters any. The Lihue ball team would be a lot better off if this type ot fan stayed to home with the baby on Sunday afternoons. Fujil is a good ball player and if given a chance will show a lot of tin horns the same kind of baseball that made him one of the best infielders in the league last year. Furtado showed the sort of stuff that had the fans talking a couple of years ago and held Makaweli to four scattered bingles. If Furtado can do a comeback he will be a world ot strength to the Lihue club. McBRYDE-KOLOA NOTES Spalding's homer was a ground ball through, the infield that went thru the Infield and to the outfield so fast that none of thci4mtfl I l?rs could get near it Sally Watase felt like the well known plugged nickel in the second when te dropped Lovell's easy fly to center. Lovell made a nice catch of Tank Ohama's short Texas Leaguer over second base in the first inning. It took a hard run and he just manag ed to get his hands on the ball and hung on. Neal had a had day with the wil low. He has been hitting all the other pitchers as they came along but but Ohama bad his number, fan ning him twice. Koloa is weak on defense, not being "ablei to get through a tame without at least five or six boots Last Sunday was no exception us they piled up seven miscues. Sacrifice hits, Iahlmura, Carvarra, Kondo. Stolen bases, Spalding, Perrera, Watase, Carvarro, Gabriel, J. Gabriel. Double plays, Spalding to Perrera. Hit by pitcher,. MOTHER RICE RECEIVE3 RADIO PHONE MESSAGE The Star-Bulletin opened their of ficial radio phone broadcast station last Thursday with a delightful pro gram. Mrs. William Hyde Rice was re quested to listen in and received the first radio phone message from Ho nolulu. At 12:30 p. m. Governor Farrlng ton addressed the Rotary Club, his voice was loud, clear. Amuslcal se lection then followed and then Mrs. Hyde Rice of Lihue was called and Arthur Rice, her son, and Mrs. 'Hen ry Waterhouse, her sister, spoke to her. Their voices were very clear and distinct. Following was a period program of music by the guitar-piano orches tra. The program ended witn a short report on the stock exchan. , with this morning's sales and quo tations. FORD TURNS OUT 6,000,000th MOTOR Ford Motor Number 6,000,000 was lifted from the assembly line in the Highland Park Ford plant at 9:14 a. m., May 18th. Just 6:1-3 sec onds later Number 6,000,001 was finished. The unusually heavy demand for Ford cars and trucks at the pres ent time has necessitated the build ing of 6,400 motors daily.. These are shipped in carload lots to the various Ford assembling plants throughout the United States. The first model "T" motor was completed on October 1st, 1908; number 1,000,000 left the assembly line December 10th, 1915. and nuin ber 5,000,000 came thru May 28th 1921. Although the Ford Motor Co turned out a number of models prior to 1908, the present numbering sys tern began with the first model T The 6,000,000th model "T" Ford motor was produced May 18th in the Ford factory in Detroit. In oth er words, from the time back in 1908 when the Ford Motor company began marketing the now famous model "T" motor car until May 18. 1922, a total of six million Ford cars and trucks have been produced Out of this taal 5,517,9f0 were de livered to purchasers in the Unit ed States alone, and according to the latest statistics, 4,478,248 of these Ford cars and trucks are still in dally use. Thus, it will be seen that out ot every five Ford cars and trucks sold to retail purchasers in the United States alone during the pist fourteen years, four are still in u i ual daily use, which is really remark able when the hard service ot com mercial cars is taken into consid eration. This seems to forcibly con firm the popular knowledge of the longevity of Ford cars. That Ford products have luvn quite evenly distributed .h-.'.i;hout the United States is borne out by the fact that thru the sparsely set tled communities in the- wt-t to thu densely populated cities of tho east, practically the same ratio ot Ford cars and trucks to population exists. Ohio leads with a total of 230, 769 Ford cars and trucks hi a use; Illinois comes second, Penn sylvania third; Texas fourth, and Michigan fifth with a total of 234. 081. New York, Iowa ami Califor nia follow in the order namod, each having more than 200,000. An idea of the important prt played by Ford cars and trucks in the daily transportation of pc-ds and persons in thu United Stales can be gained by realiut'ou of the fact that with Ford ccrs now In operation, averaging a minimum of 5,000 miles per year each, they would pile up a total ot 2? billion transportation miles equivalent to more than a million trips around the world.
