Plenty. In the mi Jst of the gloom of our national
troubles, n kind Provi. fence has vouchsafed to us an
abundance of all the necessaries of life. From the
loyal States comen news of the most abundant crops.
Tne wheat enp has be?n safely harvested, and was
never f-etter, tak the country through. Corn is
promising fiue'iv; and of fruits there never was a bet
ter pre spect. Prices are revwnable not too low for
the producer nor too high for the consumer. What
great reason we have fvr thankfulness in all this !
While thoe who brought this war i-pcn the country
for the purpos of overthrowing and destroying the
Government are compelled to pay the most exorbi
tant prices for the necessaries of life, and in many
cases are suffering from the want of food, while their
country is defined and the business of their towns
anl cities destroyed, we. who are laboring and fight
ing for the maintenance of our Government, are
blejsi with the greatest abundance of everything,
our fields are richly Ulen with bounteous crops, and
the business of i.ur towns and cities scarcely feels, as
yet. any inconvenience from the war.
