Statistician Johnton linn Heard from Forty Counties. State Statistician Johnson has received from forty counties replies to his questions regarding the crops. The crop of corn will be about 50 per cent, of what It should be. It runs from ten to thirty-five bushels to the acre, with an average of twenty bush els. Many of the persons reporting merely mark the potato crop "failure." It proba bly will be 10 per cent. The reports as to wheat are comforting. The crop will run eighteen bushels to the acre and will be full. The oats fields will produce thirty bushels to the acre, which Is a little under the best to be desired. Mahlon Hoggs Brought Home. Mahlon Boggs, who was Injured in the Panhandle wreck last week at Fiqua, O., when Engineer Fred May was killed, was brought to his home in this city late yester day evening. Hoggs resides with his brother. Curtis Boggs, at 12 Eastern ave nue. Ilia condition is yet serious, as he is hurt internally. Boggs was with Engineer John Patterson some months ago when the latter was ro terribly scalded in a wreck that he died shortly afterwards. A Pair of Small Fires. A lamp explosion in the office of the Hel wig chair factory, at New York and Ells worth streets yesterday at 6:30 o'clock p. m. caused a small fire which was put out be fore the arrival of the fire department. There were no personal injuries. A fire in the cupola of the Byram cor rugated Iron foundry at English avenue and the Big Four Hallway at 6:.Vi o'clock last night caused a loss of about $200. Arrest of Lulu Storms. Lulu Storms, of $19 North Senate avenue, was arrested yesterday on a warrant sworn out by Edward Olsen, employed by the Indianapolis Gas Company, and charged with altering gas-pipe connections. It is claimed in the affidavit that she changed the connections so that only a mall por tion of the gas used passed through the meter, by connecting the pipes on either tide of the meter with a rubber tube. Canned Servant' Arrest. Irvin Garvin, colored, of 231 Arch street, was arrested yesterday upon complaint of Mrs. D. O'Brien, living at Fourteenth street and Broadway, and charged with the theft of $lu from her purse, lie was employed there as a servant.
