ST. Loos. May 2I.-The Welcome is now on the docks undergoing a thorough overhauling. She will be out in a few days, and take her place as a regular Vicksburg packet. The Comet made her last trip on Saturday as the lton packet. The Southwester will come out this morning, and will hereafter make the regular daily trip. The Ed ward Walsh has been laid up. Capt. Lloyd Beli elt last evening for home. Dispatches received Saturday. from Capt. Jos, S. IMackey, dated Oma ha. May 26th, announce the total destruction biv fire ef the steamer Leodora, belosw Yanton City. The Leodora was bound from this port to Fort enton, with a large and valuable cargo which, with the boat, is a total loss. Tile Leodora eas owned by Captaine Fcna oesr nett and Jos. S. Mackey ad .lMr. Pollnck, of this city. Valued at v25,000 and insured for $15.i0(). The cargo was fully covered by insurance. No lives were lost. The splendid and swift City of Alton, Captain Calvert. P. W. Slseckler, clerk, leaves this evening for all landings to Merlphis. To-day the Illinoi. will leave for Porria, Belle of Piket for Naples. Harry Johnson for Keokuk, Kate Kinney for Omata. Nightingale. Lawurence and Talisman for the Oldo. To-morrow the Gov. Sharkey for the Arkansas, Anna White for Nashville and Viola Belle for Omaha. The Yankee. with a big tow, leaves on Wedaes day for New Orleans, and on the santome day the Albert Pearce leaves for White river. The Louisville Courier of the 28th says: The'river was falling steadily last evening, with four feet nine inches water in the canal by the mark. During the previous twenty-four hours it had fallen two inches at the head of the falls and si lachen at Portland. The weather was cool and ldidly all day, the thermometer at 72 at noon, the indicatisns favoring rain in the evening. On the falls last evening there were three feet four inches in the pass down the Indian chute, and slowly declining. LtzzrE GILL, ExPIruS PASSEuOcE PACKET FOR ST. Louos--Tomorrow (Sunday) at four o'clock p. e., the new, splendid and swift pas senger packet Lizzie Gill, Captain James O'Neal commander, will leave for the above and way points. She is a large and commodious steamer, and a very fast craft. Her cabin is a model of neatness. We warmly commend the Lizzie and her officers to travelers bound up the river to-morrow. They couldn't fled a better boat by waiting a month, and they may rely'on being taken through on quick time, andlenjoying them selves. Capt. Jas. O'Neal, her commander, and 2 Mr. W. H. Rhodes, her chief clerk, are well known as efficient and safe steamboatmen. The Lizzie connects at Memphis, Cairo and St. Louis with the railroads for all points East and West. GREY EAGL FOR VICSBURG AND THE BENDS.-- I This superior and regular packet leaves for the above and, all way landings at 5 o'clock this evening. The Grey Eagle is a splendid boat, with a large and splendid cabin, and is remarkably I well known for her speed, reputation for safety, the attention of her officers to the comfort and en joyment of guests, and her regularity and relia. bility. Capt. J. M. White is in command, and I Mesars. Ayles and McCrindell are the clerks. JUDin FLEncnHE FOn CAYDEN.--The large, ele gant passenger packet Judge Fletcher, Capt. Harry L. Watts, commander, and Mr. J. W. Smith. I elerk, leaves at 5 o'clock this evening, for all landings up to Camden. The passenger accom modations of the Fletcher are equal to any and t surpassed by none in the trade, and her urbane and effioent offiers spare no pains or expense itn administering to the welfare and comfort of their guests. LOussIANA FOR LoreISILLE.--To-day, at 5 P.mI.. this splendid passenger packet leaves for Louis ville and all intermediate landings, connecting at Cairo with the Illinois Central railroad. Capt. W. 1 ni. Hollcroft on deck, and in the office Mr. J. W. Lazier. With such a swift and comfortable boat, good fare, and the most obliging officersin charge, no one can fail to be pleased who goes on the Louisiana. CnueoIA FOR THE WATERINO PLACES.--This regular, fast and superior low pressure packet leaves to-day for the,Pentchartrain Lake end, on the arrival of the 4 P. nd. train. Capt. A. P. Boardman is in command, and Mr. John Otway is the efficient purser. ST. NICHOLAS FOR BAYOU SARA--E.pesa Pas senger Packet-The new, superior and fast passen ger packet St. Nicholas, Capt. S. Beno oomman. der, and Mr. J. C. Libano clerk, leaves this evening at 5 o'clock for Baton Rouge, Port Hudson, Bayou Sara and all intermediate landings on the coast. The St. Nicholas is beyond doubt one of the most elegant and desirable passenger packets on the I river. Her superior in all those thousand qualifi cations which, combined, go to make up a first classpacket has yet to be launched. In a word, she is a " crack" packet, and the public know it and patronize her accordingly. FOR THu WATrIanG PLACES.--The fine, fast low pressure steamer Creole, Captain Charles Walker commanding, and Mr. Sam. Louis D'OR FOR SHEVEPORT,--The swift and favorite passenger packet Louis D'Or, Capt. ,Che ney Johnson, commander, and Messrs. Smith and Groves, clerks, leaves this evening at 5 o'clock for the above and way landings. The Louis D'Or has a large and splendid cabin, with all the modern improvements. Her reputation for speed is too well known to require comment, while the widely known character of Capt. Johnson as an old, tho rough and careful commander is a sufficient gn.a rantes of her reliability and safety. Passengers will find her table spread with all the market affords in the way of luxuriant fare. Mi. S. MPr.n-a-Merchanlas' and People's Line-FFor SI.
