THURSDAY MORNING, OCTOBER 11, 1866. 1 tq Orleans n anT g T e arlet. ____-.----- CRnasod Orrl a, No. 94 OAsp STarIe, Wadneassartoanina, Oct. IlI, 10E. The most prominent feature in the movement in financial circles today has been a further advance in rates of Gold and Foreign Exehange, predicated exclusively upon the enhanced rates reported by telegraph, as the ruling figures of the New York market. The demand for Gold was fair through out, while the supply was of a restricted character from the opening to the close of business, and sellers realized an advance on the operations of the day of fully 1 T cent. Transactions pro gressed in the following order, viz: $5000 and $5000 in the morning at $1464 ; $3000, $4000 and $10,000 at 1467; $5000 and $5000 at 147; $5000, $5000, $5000 and $20,000 at 1474; $10,000, $15,000 and $20,000 at 14,7; $10,000 at 1479, and $20,000 at 1474. Sales of Silver have been limited to $500 American halves at 130, and 1700 Mexican dol lars at 147, in. the morning. We now quote Goldat 1474t0147., American Silver coin at 138@ 139, and Mexican Dollars at 147@148. FoalEaN ExCeANoE-The advance in rates of Gold has imparted increased strength to the For eign Exchange market, and both Sterling and France have been held to-day at higher figures than heretofore. Outdoor offerings were very light throughout, however, and the demand for direct remittance purposes was for the most part confined to insignificant amounts, as may be read ily inferred from the subjoined statement, which includes the whole of the actual sales, viz: £1100 clear sterling at 1573, £300 and £500 do. at 158,the former sight and the latter a sixty-day hill, and £5600 in several bills, including Bank sixty days' and clear sight bills at 100. Sales of Francs have been limited to 15,000f. Bank at $.50f., and to 35,000f., 60,000f. and 75,000f. private, in several lots at 3.55f. Ol.e closing quotations this evening are, lor Bank Sterling 1600161, Clear Bills 158,@ 159, Bill of Lading Bills nominal, Bank Francs 3.50@3:l.47f., and outdoor Franca 3.535.3.521f. DotESeTIC EoKeanGE--We have no alteration of any kind to refer to under the above heading to-day. Offerings of private and commercial con tinued exceedingly restricted, while the demand at Bank for remittance purposes exhibited a fair inquiry throughout. The purclh4ses by Banks and Bankers comprised only $20,000 and $25,000 New York Sight at j cent. discount, $30,000 do. at I 5a cent. discount, and $15,000 thirty days' do. at 1I %t cent. discount.
