Warships Leaving: the Isthmus.
Panama, Isthmus of Panama,

United States warships at the Isth
mus have been recalled. The only
vessels of the Pacific squadron re
maining will be the Marhlehead, the
Petrel, Wyoming and two torpedo
boats. Since the ratification of the
canal treaty and the anticipated ar
rival of the Third Infantry this,
force is considered sufficient td-guard
The cruisers New York, Boston,
and the gunboat Bennington will
go to) Callao. Four hundred and
fifty of the marines will be trans
ferred to the new naval station at
Guantanamo, Cuba. The Dixie
will probably be sent to San Do

"All the people in Kona with
whom I talked, were intensely dis
gusted. They want no more Dole.

Personally, I believe the policy of
President McKinley should be fol
lowed out. He believed in appoint
ing one Democrat to two Republi
cans on the Supreme bench in order
to prevent political bias of any
kind. Now Judge Edings is the
logical successor to Justice Gal
braith. He is a man who has the
respect of everyone with whom 'e
has had any dealings in the dis
trict over which he presides as Cir
cuit Judge. He is also a Demo
crat whose work is above reproach.
