The Race.
Tho raco which was expected to
take place this aftornoon in the
Park is off, Mr. Hollioger having
withdrawn his horse. There seems
to have beon an erronoons im
presssion that it was Gerster
which has beon placed in. the
raco by Sir. Hollinger. The raco
was to havo been between Hoi
linger' s stalliou and Schnman's
niaro. The great Gerster is yet
to tho fore and resting after her
victory over Lot Slocam. This
beautiful mare by tho way, is
one of the finest bred horses in
this country (out of EQio D. by
"Washington) and will perhaps bs
acquired by ono of the big racing
stables. It is roported
that $1000 can buy her
which seoms cheap after
the showieg" she" made and ac
cording to prices lately paid for
other well-bred horses by local
sportsmen.

What with Canada and the
restoration "bug-a-boo, it is a
great wonder tno Advertiser man
doesn't have a fit; but then, ho
consoles himself by hanging
around their "bier."
Pablo might have known be
forehand, that ho need not
have eypected any satisfaction
from the barracks when he tele
phoned the other night. Those
in charge, are not there for that
purpose.
Oh vay I to afford the Adver
tiser man an opportunity to got
a little rest; P. G-. soldiers are
now detailed to scout tho valleys
for that restoration "bug-a-boo
It appears though, that they
also scout for drinks. It would
have served them right, if they
had been shot the other night.
